I was fortunate enough to see these lovely flowers walking back from a routine medication review at my local GPs' practice in Weaverham today.
So which should I paint first:
the allium/bistort,
the pink rose,
the purple bearded iris, or
the rhododendron?

The foliage of herbaceous perennial Persicaria microcephala 'Red Dragon' (bistort) is burgundy-plum in spring with a silvery, metallic, chevron marking, which gradually turns red as the foliage becomes greener. The tiny white flowers appear in late summer.

Himalayan Bistort. I think they got the name wrong. It was Himalayan Bistro, open for breakfast, lunch and after school snacks. As a chain it never really got off the ground, usually resting between 20 and 80 centimeters (that's about 6 to 12 yards tall for you Americans) high and even that high only on especially strong windy days. Also the customer service sucked, and you could never get fresh coffee on weekends.

The clump-forming, vigorous perennial Bistorta amplexicaulis 'Alba' (bistort, persicaria) quickly makes excellent groundcover in sun or partial shade. It favours damp soil and from mid-summer to early autumn produces slender spikes of tiny, white flowers which attracts pollinators.

The delicate flower spikes of Bistorta amplexicaulis 'Alba' (bistort, mountain fleece, Persicaria sp.) are covered with tiny white flowers that catch the late afternoon sunshine. This clump-forming, vigorous perennial needs a moist soil and can make dense groundcover.
