maybe media literacy is dead but if we always equated ‘hmm this writer wrote a character who has bad morals and does bad things’ to ‘this writer endorses all of these things and I think they’re a Bad Person for writing this character’ then anyone who has ever written a fictional book or movie or audio drama would be a Bad Person because they all have antagonists and characters who are morally grey and characters who did bad things because Fiction Is Boring and Often doesn’t really have a Plot without it. characters can do shitty things. finding these characters compelling or interesting doesn’t mean you approve of all of their actions, nor does it mean you’re a bad person for trying to explore possible ways they Could be redeemed or what circumstances it would take for them to achieve it
