#bios problems

My pet peeve for the day: If you ever received a "CMOS clock failed" error from the startup bootup of your desktop computer (during the BIOS startup), then you probably have no idea what the problem is?

Causes of Problems:

1.) You Get C&** blocked from automatically loading your OS (e.g. Windows 7) because of the error. You need to either Press DEL to enter the 'Setup' BIOS or Press F1 to continue, to continue to the OS load.

2.) At some certain point, either after installation of a new battery or just when it is drained, you will start getting Browser errors (Internet Explorer and Firefox) about SSL "This is an Untrusted Website" error for all website addresses. And you do not want to disable SSL config settings...

Answers:

1.) The most likely problem is your Motherboard's Battery is drained for years; because we had NO idea it even had a battery!!!

Explanation: With the upgrade of DDR3 Motherboards, 'BIOS,' which is like the driver software for the CPU motherboard utilises a "CR2032 (3V) toy battery" to store the internal clock time, Boot Order, Master Passwords, CPU and PCI settings, etc. This is quite important if you consider powering down your desktop computer from the power port all the time. 

The problem lies with the fact that this battery rarely gets replaced and thus it drains eventually.

2.) The battery that needs to be replaced is located on the motherboard itself... if you see the Big Semiconductor board where the RAM Modules, PCI ports, the standard VGA outputs, backside USB ports are connected to, then you should find a small Penny Sized coin battery.

Solution:

1.) Turn off the power from the computer. Leave it discharged any residue current in the electronics.

Open up your Desktop Computer by drilling the Fan Side hood with a Screw driver.

2.) Perch your Desktop to the side so that you can locate the motherboard and where the CR2032 battery is located.

3.) After finding the battery, remove it with either a Pen Lid or something not too conductive.

4.) Replace it with either a CR 2032 3V battery or the cheaper CR 2025 3V lithium battery. Most 2$ stores sell them more cheaply than the other one.

5.) ... And you are done!!! (Fix the lid and turn on the Computer).

6.) Just remember that you will need to update the Time on the BIOS time and the OS Calendar Clock; otherwise you get the above mentioned "Untrusted Website" error which is the result of not synchronizing together.
