((Bioroids are, to put it bluntly, literal test tube babies. Had they developed inside a female bioroid’s body, the female would need to eat not only double the amount to support the growing child, but also various types of metals, melted down, to form the child’s mechanical parts. Since the normal female bioroid’s body cannot support a child, these test tube babies are grown in an artificial womb with supplements added in and speed-grown until they are developmentally a toddler, though there have been cases where babies or school-age children were ‘born’. This depends on the parents - some parents love doting on young babies, while others don’t have the means to be around pre-school age children as needed and did not want to send them to a babysitters’. Most are toddlers, however, developmentally able to speak and have decent motor control.

Bioroids have DNA, not dissimilar to how a human has DNA, though their makeup is a bit different. A loooot of experimentation with human DNA and android data caused bioroid DNA data, and the exact process is now illegal in Xav’s world - which doesn’t matter, as ‘new’ bioroids are all related to the original ones, and many even donate their DNA for couples.

Like a human, baby bioroids are born with a ‘soul’, for lack of a better term, in place. Their processor creates one as it forms from the data of the parents, and their processor is often the first thing to develop when they are grown. This is why it is impossible to build another bioroid body for one that has lost theirs without there being issues between the two ‘souls’ - the native one and the one being inserted. Deleting the native soul in favor of the other one is considered murder, and even letting them ‘battle’ it out results in one being assimilated (usually the native soul, as it is a newbuilt) or multiple personality disorder. A bioroid that has lost their body can, however, have their processor inserted into an android body with a blank slate. Other than getting used to a body very different from their own, this has few problems.

Unlike humans, physical sex doesn’t matter when it comes to children. A male and a female, two males, and two females can all have bioroid children - though 67% of male-male offspring are male and 100% of female-female offspring are female. A male and a female have 50% male offspring and 50% female, like humans. Two males also have a 25% chance of failure - as in, the child never develops and dies in vitro. Why?

Note that the terms ‘male’ and ‘female’ are only used to match up with the two human genders they physically resemble the most, and that scientifically, female bioroids are actually ‘sex-negative’ (having no physical sex) while male bioroids are ‘sex-positive’ (having a physical sex). All it takes are two ‘gametes’ to form a new bioroid offspring, after all, and female gametes contain essential information for development that male gametes have ‘shut off’ in favor of being obviously male. Females can only donate ‘female’ gametes and therefore produce female offspring (since no matter what, the result will be two female gametes). Males can donate a ‘male’ gamete and a ‘female’ gamete, and either produce male offspring (one donates male, one donates female) or female offspring (both donate female). If both males donate a male gamete, then there is no gamete that has that essential development information - approximately a 25% chance - and therefore this child will not develop.

So yes.

Xavier, Zero, and Mac are ‘sex-positive’ bioroids, with one ‘male’ and one ‘female’ gamete. Marty, Teal, and Bevel are ‘sex-negative’, with two ‘female’ gametes. Marth is an android with no sex that chose to identify as male. None of them are a male or female by the human definition. When Xavier was genderbent those times, he went from being sex-positive to sex-negative. Since only ‘sex-negative’ bioroids were supposed to carry offspring but can’t biologically donate to others and vice-versa for ‘sex-positive’ bioroids, the terms female and male are used. When bioroid labs are taken into account, being sex-negative/sex-positive doesn’t matter as labs have means to retrieve DNA for parents.

What part of bioroid DNA causes fertility is unknown by everyone except a few long-dead scientists named Dr. Light, Dr. Wily, Dr. Lalinde, and Dr. Cossack. So not even Xavier, not even Regalcorp, knows that he’s fertile, and canonly, he never finds out.

Android data, bioroid DNA, and human DNA are not compatible with each other by normal means outside of that super illegal experimentation process that I mentioned above. No ifs, ands, or buts. So no half-human half-bioroid half-android babies, folks, they just don't happen.))
