What Leon said to Manuela at the end- very creepy and yeah, victim-blaming. Like the way it was worded sounded like it came from a horror antagonist. đ
But I also thought of how he once again, told someone to keep on living for the sake of others who have died.
That honestly kind of concerns me because it sounds like Leon only sees value in his life due to others around him, especially those who died- especially with how he worded it.
Oh based on the way it was phrased but in OJ and Damnation, I do wholeheartedly believe that Leon has no self-esteem, his self-worth is entirely based on how "valuable" he is to others. Character analysis ahead:
TW// mentions of suicide
He was kidnapped by the government and stripped of any and all agency he had. Apart from just the typical lack of agency in the military (they tell you what to wear, how you can cut your hair, where you're going to sleep, what you're going to eat, etc.) Leon never got a choice in joining this program, he was forced to do so to save Sherry. So fresh off the worst day of his life (up until that point), he's thrown into years of mentally and physically strenuous training against his will all while the government dangles the safety of a child over his head.
And being the young rookie who had no military experience prior to being dumped in special forces training with men who'd been training for years probably didn't do wonders for his self-esteem either, especially when the commanding officer is calling him pretty boy. Realistically, I think it's definitely possible that the other people on that team called him much worse, but that's just my own speculation. And we know he was suicidal during this time too, and the only reason he didn't go through with it was because of Sherry.
From there, he becomes the government's greatest weapon against bio-terror. They say jump and he has to ask how high, otherwise they'll kill him and Sherry both. They carelessly throw him at problems they often had a hand in creating, expecting him to cover up their messes. And Leon fully recognizes this too. Apart from Vendetta and Death Island where it was pretty much explicitly spelled out, it's shown in-motion in Damnation. The US government comes in and bombs the ESR, killing god knows how many innocent people that Leon just finished tried to save from bioterroism, all so they could invade and take over the country. They'd literally created this entire plan around fake-pulling Leon from the mission and expecting him to go off the rails because he wanted to desperately save the people there-- they literally weaponized his trauma and his humanity. (I think it's also important to note that Hunnigan didn't know this was their endgame either.)
So when we look at what he said to both Manuela and Sasha, which was in essence the same thing-- you can't kill yourself because you have to honor the memory of those who died by continuing to live-- I think it's clear that Leon's not really living for himself. We see that in Vendetta, when Leon was at his lowest, where he literally says "today is a good day to die," during the fight with Arias 'cause he assumed Arias was going to kill him. And he didn't care, he wanted to die.
He feels so much survivor's guilt for not being able to save everyone all of the time, and he bases his self-worth entirely on his ability to help everyone else. That's why he hits such a low in Vendetta, because "instead of seeing an end to this shit, it just keeps getting worse," and this is coming off the heels of him essentially having a breakdown in the morgue and having to kill the squad he was in charge of again. He thinks he got them killed the first time when the bomb went off, although logically he knows there was nothing he could've done. But then when they are resurrected and zombified in the morgue, he's forced to literally kill them with guns to their heads. And even by the end of Vendetta, he's still not doing great. He's come to believe that it doesn't matter what he wants to what life he wanted to have, he doesn't get to make those decisions, and he has to accept that for what it is.
It seems like he's doing a little bit better in Death Island at least. We know he isn't drinking, and Matt Mercer talked in interviews about how he has a support system now with Chris and the others, people he can rely on. But the fact that it took Chris finding him drunk and hungover at 9 am (remember: Leon didn't want to be found, he went out there to hide) for him to finally get any kind of support group speaks volumes to how much he suffered in silence for years.
i interviewed for a job at a local game store last week and i really genuinely Dont Want To Work There but need the money. theyre probably gonna hire me considering there are only dudes with terrible customer service who are employed but i just realized theyre gonna ask me to clean those fucking bathrooms and im gonna have to say No. Sorry. No Thanks. whatre they gonna do. fire me. they need me more than i need them. now what. clean up your own piss stained bathroom.
Before
Hey yâall. Maybe there is something in the white lines. Something about the past you had to share. Something to give you more layers. Hope you like it.
You placed a ring in his table and sat in the chair in his opposite side, facing him.
It was a beautiful diamond ring.
Leon interrupted himself and paused his eyes from his computer to watch out your uncommon arrival that evening. You muffled a laugh, crossed your arms, your eyes now facing the ground. He looked so damn fine when he was concentrated.
- âUmmâŚhi then, sweetheart. Are you gonna tell me something about it orâŚare you expecting me to ask?â
-âAfraid to shoot, Kennedy?â You challenged him.
-âOkâŚsoâŚâ
He seemed confused. Almost scared, you could tell.
-âTip: long weird story. Iâll give you one chance, Leon.â
He abandoned the computer for good, now. Crossing his arms just like you, he finally asked:
-âWhat in the hell is this, baby girl?â You giggled.
-âI almost married once, Leon. Well, I forgot this thing inside my drawer for a while, but today I found it, accidentally.â You approached him as much as you could whit that table in the middle of you two. âCould you imagine that, Leon?â You said, lost in your memories, taking a good look in every detail of that ring.â
-âNo, no, no. Guess I canât take that. Since when?? I meanâŚno way. Married? I-â He took the ring from your fingers, looking directly to your face. Youâd never saw him so serious and confusing.
-âWhen I moved to this town, two years ago, I had a friend here. We used to be soulmates. Until I saw her father. Heâs young, like, he was forty eight at the time. We fell in love, deeply. He was so damn hot I barely understood why he would ever see me somehow.â
-âDonât say bullshit.â Leon couldnât avoid his eyes rolling, given the fact he always told you how damn gorgeous you are.
-âŚâBut he did⌠and we kept things in secret as much as we could, cause we knew sheâd never accept us. His daughter, I mean. My bestie. He had to choose. When he told her, she called me-â
-âMom? Just kidding, Iâm sorry. Keep going, baby.â He played, but barely looking in your eyes. Still locked in that ring. He was kinda in shock.
-âShe told me I should k.ll myself.â His eyes found yours.
-âWow. What did you do?â
-âI told him it was so obvious, and I didnât expect her to accept. So I decided to leave him. He tried to convince me for a while, went to my house crying, without asking me or something. He actually made me surprise visitations five times. We had the best sex Iâve ever had all of the times, because he always used that against me. He knew I wouldnât feel that with anyone, Iâm not up to, you know, feel something for someone I wouldnât grow feelings for. He used to tell me how much I belonged to him, how hard he could sense me around, how perfect we were together. I almost fell for that. Almost. But I couldnât deal his baby offending me as it was my fault to love him the way I did. But it was so hard. Maybe the hardest decision Iâve ever made. She accused me of trying to use him to fix my psychological and financial issues. It was so unfair cuz this ring was the only thing I actually accepted.â
Both of you stared at each other.
-âHow long ago?â He asked, carefully. âWhen did him propose to you? And when did you broke up for good?â
-âHe proposed to me when we was like, seven months together. So he decided to tell her. Then we broke up. Two months after that, I joined the team. He went to my house those times I told. In the next month we was introduced to each other, Leon, you and I. Then, Iâd never saw him again.
-âIt ainât so long ago, like, your last meeting was only eight months. You never told me that. Why?â
-âI definitely wasnât up for it. Decided to erase this for good. I was cleaning my drawers when I found this.â You pointed to the ring with your chin. âAnd here we are. Why are you so⌠Leon, did I say something wrong?â
-âNo! No, actually I feel honored to know something soâŚwow. Guess I wasnât prepared. To imagine you as a wifey, you know.â
-âIm sorry, didnât intend to bring weirdness to you.â you laughed, taking back the ring and heading to the door.â
-âHey, wait. Iâm going with you.â He took the car keys, his wallet, his gun and the distinctive. âAre you going home? Cause I think we could maybe drink something.â
-âSure! I was about to say something but I saw you workingâŚWhatâs on your mind?â
-âWell, need to take a bath first. Can we go to my house?â
-âOnly if you let me use the other bathroom to take a shower. This story made sweat a little more than I like to admitâŚâ
-âWow, is your husband that hot?â Leon played, provoking you. It seemed more like a test than a joke. You knew him so good already.
-âShut up, he made me nervous even from all this distance and Iâm so disappointed with myself. I thought Iâd be completely endurable when it comes to him.â
-âCâmon, youâre getting used to what youâre saying. Be easy on yourself. Next time youâll not even remember his hot appearance anymore. Talking about him, what is his name? How does he look? What he does, like, his job, what songs does he likes to listen?â
-âWhy you want to know all of it, Leon? You creepy.â You giggled.
-âWell, I want to gossip. You told me how to, remember? You made me a spiteful and curious person, all this is your fault. Then you bring me this whole story and donât expect me to crave for every single detail? Think youâre twisted.â
-âYouâre jealous cause I said heâs hot, confess.â
-âIm not, you always says Iâm hot too. Dumb. Now, say.â
-âHis name is Christopher Bernard Casarosa, he owns a wine company. It was past from his father to him. He likes to go to gym and futebol. He plays piano since he was a child and he is Psychologist by profession.â
-âPsychologist and couldnât deal a spoiled child. What a joke! Well, his life is easier than I thought. Never had to fight for money, which gave him the chance to choose being beautiful, play piano and study something he maybe didnât even had a huge interest for.â
You caught him. All you could do was laugh about be being as spiteful as he told you made him.
-âWhat about your love life, Leon? You never say anything. You want me to think youâre the cityâs priest in the meantime?â
-âI donât have so much things to bring. The last date I had was one week before we met, baby girl. Been faithful since then.â
-âMy ass!â You almost whispered. You hated when hot guys came out with this nonsense story. -âWhy? Did she dump you in the ass coincidentally?â
-âNo, I told her I wasnât sure if we should keep that going. She understood, but tried to call me many times. I ignored her.â
-âYou didnât like her? It had no chemistry?â
-âI thought I liked her but I was wrong.â
-âWhy did you change your mind?â
-âBecause I⌠well, I was wrong. Told ya.â
-âBut something made you think you didnât like her anymore. What was that?â
-âYou made me remember of something, baby girl. Open that, please.â
It has so many different things like collars, bracelets, earrings and aâŚbra.
-âLeon, eew! Let me out NOW!â
-âWhat?? He laughed.
-âYouâre just disgusting. How do you let me in your own personal motel? Did you fuck that girl here?â
You got really mad. Damn! He wanted to punish you, that was so clear. He touched the ring your old love gave you with passion and caring. Now he made you to touch a bra from someone he fucked inside that car you was inside. Leon was worst than rotten when he was up to. That wasnât fair.
-âI didnât fuck her here, donât worry.â
-âBut you did somewhere, good boy.â
-âI didnât think that would make you angry, câmon. It was more about how much I donât give a fuck for pas things. Thatâs there for the whole time weâre partners. Funny, huh?â
-âFunny!â You opened the doorâs car, which made him to stop abruptly, in shock with your attitude. He made you mad, you wanted to show what it was a damn crazy person. Leon wasnât even prepared to play your feelings. When he parked at the side of the coast, you took all those things and threw away in the sea.
-âWhat the hell did you just do?! Are you trying to kill yourself? Why did you get mad??
-âYou made me touch that, Leon, fuck you!â
-âI didnât intended that. Iâm sorry. Really.
He turned his attention toward what he just saw. -âBaby girl, Iâm so sorry. I didnât expect you to hate this that much, really. We do so many jokes on each other all time. Please, forgive me.â
You brushed off your face with your hands. You was mad. Jealousy. He won. You was angry and sad and⌠he knew now. Leonâs not dumb. He tested you and you gave him exactly what he wanted. But if the jerk wanted that, to know something, to have you anyway, what didnât he let you know instead of testing you all the whole time? Weirdo.
-âLeon, donât need to apologize. Iâm sorry, I was just stressed out by all of this. Think I was completely fine but guess what? I donât feel like itâs safe to drink anything tonight. Would you mind to take me home?â
-âSure, but at least tell me why you got so damn mad.â
-âDonât play the dumb ass, Leon. I felt just like you did about that fucking ring. Like if we had to share each other with someone elseâs. And thatâs fucking sore. I hate the idea of someone elseâs hands all over you. The idea of tou fuckin someone gives me headache. I know you did that to test me, to punish me, because you canât deal your mind making you swallow the frame of other man fucking my whole body the way I told you Cristopher fucked me and how much I told you I liked. â You threw all up in a second.
-âSorry, Leon. I need to be in a cage for a while. I donât fucking know a thing of whatâs going on for a long time already, but I guess weâre on the edge of our sleeping schedule and I donât want to say more bull shit.
He was brushing his eyes now. His face was red, his eyes was watery.
-âListen, Iâll take you home, but Iâm staying there. Guess we could use each otherâs companion tonight.â
-âYouâre the boss, go rule. And, Leon, I love you, you know. More than anything. So please, donât give up on our partnership or us at all. I promise Iâll manage all the things I said with care.â
-I wish I could say it firstâŚBut since you did, may I say I love you so much more.â He reached your face with his right hand, caressing your cheek and your upper lip. âAnd Iâm not giving up on anything.Ever. You understand me? I swear.â He pulled you for a hug, kissing all over your free hand. You closed your eyes and felt his embrace like a home.
Leon spent the night in your couch by your side, until you both fall asleep embraced. He left in the early morning, but it was okay cause you had so much to think about.
Daddy jokes
Since you became his partner, Leon decided to let the walls to fall dawn. Naturally, you got to know him better, both of you told lots about yourselves to each other, and a few days later he couldnât bite his jokes anymore.
Serious, Leonâs silly. Heâs so silly he tells jokes about almost everything. He compares strangers to celebrities, like âLook, there goes De Niro buying breads like us, non-famous people, DE NIRO IM A BIG FAN.â Also, for every cute girl with dark hair, he uses Katy Perry. You already know he potentially has a crush on her-not his fault.
You always ask yourself which celebrity he would choose to make fun of you.

Crawling
Chapter 1
[ Hey yall. I imagined this scenario and suffered so much I wanted to share. Promise Iâll try to give you all what you need in the end. Wanted to put some extensions to Leonâs existence in readers life. Xxxx]
âIâm so used to my life with you around.â
Some songâs phrases made sense when your thoughts were the most dangerous and empty place. Leon has been away for two days, and you didnât know when he was coming back home.
âHomeâ.
On the third day doing almost nothing about your own life, with your anxiety taking over your whole mind, you decided to check on his house. Why not? His mission commander didnât respond your thousand emails, you know, for security. Your boss also didnât take any of your calls, because it could be worst to you, since you couldnât go to this mission beside him given that your forearm was just glued again. They asked you to wait in silence, to keep yourself safe too. But you needed to feel him. Somehow, somewhere.
You dreamt about him for the first time since he went to this mission. The pain was so real. Seeing him in front of you, so shiny and beautiful and kind, so himâŚand then waking upâŚ
You had some of his clothes in your wardrobe but it barely had his scent cuz you washed them with your own clothes few days ago.
It was weird to feel that emptiness, to feel all this empathy for your partner whit him so far away from you, in a very classified mission. That choked you since the first time you knew. You felt so impotent, so not enough. You didnât ever imagined not going on a mission beside him, you had in your mind you would ever be by his side and protect him as he always would do to you no matter what.
More than that, you missed Leon. You nocticed you didnât recognized yourself without him around anymore. You assumed he was like an extension of yours, whom you depended heavily to breath, to work. To live. You knew that love, felt that since the start. But you kept things with you since you couldnât read his mind. Even when he was the sweetest, the most supportive person, the most caring friend youâve ever had.
You missed his calm voice encouraging you to talk and talk even when you only had bad jokes to do, you missed how he was always ready to laugh very much before you could conclude the punchline because he always told you how bad and predictable tou was when telling jokes, and how amazing you could be doing all the rest of the things you know how to do in compensation.
Leon always made your blood run, and he did it when you was completely destroyed inside for so many past ghosts. He loved you so much you remembered how much you deserved to be loved. You know that was, most of all, thanks to yourself and your therapist and your strength, but he was an angel sent right to you, and you was sure youâre the most lucky person in the whole universe because you had him by your side.
But now? Almost four days away from your soulmate, your best friend, your partner. Your big guy.
You was also far away from telling him everything you felt. Somehow, you know he was yours too. You kinda felt this. Almost electricity. But you was coward and thatâs so ok given all your choices and everything youâve had in your hands. You just couldnât lose him.
The doorman never asked you for your documents when you arrived, because everyone around you two knew you both had each otherâs personal documents copyâs, each others houseâs and carâs keys. You werenât just⌠as maried as you wish you was. Well.
You opened the door, entered and walked around, checking on every corner of Leonâs house. You saw his clothes inside his wardrobe this time, and couldnât deny to bury your face in them. The same in his bedsheets, his pillows. As if you was trying to dig him from his belongings.
So sore and hard objects, and cold, so different from him, but every single thing seemed to have his face painted on it. His eyes spent most of his lifeâs hours looking to the inside of that house. That made your heart warmer somehow. Until a sudden burst changed the instant comfort.
He wasnât there. He wouldnât be for countless hours.
You didnât have somewhere to go, indeed you wouldnât if you had, because you know Leon wouldnât be there too. What if he arrives and youâre not there to welcome him in the same second?
You decided to stay. He wasnât around but there was the closest you could be to him right now. You washed all the clothes of the laundry and the ones left on the bathroom. You cooked everything you could and froze, so he would never to do those things in his resting days after this duty. You decided to order food to you, because it was impossible to concentrate in your own food, given that you had to be hungry to decide what to eat. How do you think about all this when youâre upset as you was? Besides, you already had frozen every single bean in that house. It was so much easier to choose for ready meals, pay and wait.
When everything was done, you had to take a bath, also because that was the funniest thing left. Finishing the bath, you cried a lot. You knew you should be worried by the way they didnât even let you to know what that duty was about, and if he was sent by himself or not. You prayed so much for his integrity with all the faith youâd still had.
You heard Leonâs neighbors coming home with their dog, Rosalie, a lovely german shepherd who loves you and Leon the same you both love her. Leon always petsits her when they need to go somewhere she canât. You assumed they wouldnât deny her company to you that night, so instead of knocking the door you only whispered: âWhoâs the babyyye?â Rosie, immediately, started to bark in a dramatic manner that made you laugh like a child. That feeling, finally a good one and so different from anxiety, caressed your fatigued heart as a painkiller kicks the headache away.
Austin, one of her owners, opened the door with the enthusiasm Rosie always do when sees her favorite persons. âHey, handsome! Been a while! Come in!â Rosie couldnât be happier. âYeah, been working just too much. Need a vacation immediately! Iâm sorry for appearing like this, but I heard you guys and couldnât brace myself from smashing our little baby, right Rosie??â Your arms strongly around her neck, then the hands scratching her backs, just like heaven to her. âNevermind! We love you too, right Rosie?â Austin said, when Johnathan came to say hey to you too, after leaving the suitcases in the closet: âHey, look whoâs in the house!â He made you to turn around to say: âLooking prettier and stronger too! You and Leon should take us to the gym with you, right, Austin?â âMe? I wonât promise anything, Iâm too lazy for that!â The three of you laughed, giving the fact them both were completely in shape too. Humble people. âLook at you both! My dream is to be this hot someday!â âShut up! I swear you are! And, talking âbout himâŚ?â Austin said, and Johnathan followed âWe saw him in the hall three days ago, when we travelled. Four a.m. Whereâs he?â âWell, guess what?â you said, disappointment spotted in your eyes. âWhat? Whereâs he? And why youâre not with him?â
Austin, which Leon used to talk more, asked. Even Austin didnât knew what was going on. âI broke the forearm three weeks ago. But this dutyâŚeven I donât know about, for security and stuff you already know. So I couldnât go. Given that this duty was a surprise even for our boss, Leon couldnât tell me anything because they took his phone away before he could think about it, afraid of him to tell me much then he should. So thatâs why I am here.â Johnathan covered his mouth, feeling groundless. He knew the importance of that fear. Austin, looking from your face to Johnathanâs, risked the chance and asked, already afraid of what was to come: âAnd when is he coming back home, darling?â You kept your eyes opened, praying to keep them dry enough from the openness and not crying.
But you started to cry.
âJesus, honey. Iâll grab a tea for us, hold on.â âIâm s-sorry. I tried to talk to them so many times, but they forbidden me! Told me I was risking my safety appearing like that in their emails and calls. Told me I could risk the mission and classified informations. My hands are empty right now now and I donât know what to do with all that was left to me to face.â âBabe, donât worry.-Austin said, holding your hands and caressing them.- Leon is the strongest agent Iâve ever seen. I confess I didnât see so many agents but him-he always tried to make you laugh, ever. Maybe thatâs why Leon and him were so close. Sense of humor no matter what. - but I know so many things heâs been through. So many things. I know heâll be back soon. In one piece.â âAnd he will propose to you, and weâll marry you two as God may bless, amen.â John said, bringing tea for the three of you. You laughed again, even crying the way you was. âHere, cheers- Austin said- to Leonâs comeback.â âAnd for their wedding to come!â John said, with conviction. âI wonât even play around, baby, I know theyâll marry very soon! Austin said. âWhat?? What are you guys talking about?â You flushed. Johnathan, feeling out for not knowing that much, protested: âWhat? Do you know ANYTHING I still donât know, Austin? Are you leaving me in the dark? You wouldnât dare!â âChill out, baby, Iâm just saying what I feel. And I never commit mistakes when I feel things.â You finally said, after stop laughing:â John, what did you put in this tea? You guys are completely crazy!â âBaby, donât you lie to us. We know we want the same thing, right, Austin?â âSo right, hon. Chill out babygirl, weâre here. Donât be anxious. Breathe. Leonâs gonna come back so soon youâll wish another mission to steal him for more five days, I swear!â âDonât say that, never. I donât know myself anymore when heâs not around. I know this ainât no healthy but Iâll fix that too. I couldnât sleep for the last three days.â âWe can see it by your eyes. You need to try. To be entire to punish him when heâs home again.â Austin said, trying to make you smile again. âYeah, you should slap him right in that ass!â John increased.
They was so right. Sometimes, in the middle of those things you was doing to keep yourself busy and tired, you thought he should be punished when he was back home. But youâd think about that later: now you was recovering your battery and energy with their sweet company, presence and energy. Thatâs what you most needed and you didnât even know. You wanted Rosie, God gave you the hole family and a chance to breathe, only for those few hours. But you couldnât be more thankful.
âGuys, thanks for having me. I needed you both, Iâm feeling completely overwhelmed. Canât thank you enough for the evening we had. And sorry again for coming without asking. Youâre amazing.â Austin said back: âYouâre always welcome here, baby. If you want to sleep here, or to invite us to sleep with you, weâre completely avaliable.â âAnd we want to know any new you receive from our big guy, so weâll be aware. Donât matter how late, please, tell us.â âI swear Iâll tell you both! But i would never make you guys to sleep out after coming from a trip. Buuuuut if you could to loan me our little baby, Iâll feel eternally grateful. Is it asking too much?â âSheâs yours! Youâre the mama, here, take her!â You smiled. Austin and Johnathan are electric. You just couldnât love them less. âDid you hear that, Rosie? Iâm your mother! Weâre a family of three!â âAnd weâll be a family of four, very very soon, may God bless, amen!â âAmen!â They said, just like twins, wishing you the same youâve been wishing during your whole journey together. You guided Rosie to Leonâs apartment, which she knew as her own house. She headed to the couch, rubbing herself to left her dog scent, just like she always does.
That, also, made you think that bringing her to be with you was the biggest goal of the week. Those manias of her was the funniest and cutest thing you could deal.
It was best to be like that. Actually there was a way to be a little happier inside that nightmare. You had Rosie now, you was recovering, almost well. You had time and company. And the best possible place to be. What you didnât imagine was that youâll take more days then you wanted to be through.
Partnership
(I always write this little things thinking about Death Island Leon and his cute sense of humor and duty and protection and availability to his close ones;)
Leon always seems to have an effective plan. Once you discord on one ideia, he blow out another as if that was obvious. Of course, years of experience from his part makes your team of two working fine. And, just before you feel dumb by his fast thoughts and ideas, he gives you space to agree or disagree, to put points and observations in âhis new planâ. He seems to feel everything you think before you even say it, but maybe itâs just part of what he built up in his entire life as the smartest and intuitive soldier he was.
He tries not to seem too cute (because he IS). Leonâs a careful, tempered person. Always been, but became even better at this. He can try a lot to not to be cute, but itâs impossible and he doesnât even imagine that. In his head, heâs a brick. But personally? He stops anything heâs doing to listen to you looking in your eyes, always encouraging you to go ahead with your speech, rereading every line you just gave him, so he can understand everything with precision. He never starts his observations immediately: he waits like, five or seven seconds until heâs sure you finished every point you wanted to tell him. That worked for missions, reporting, investigating, choosing a movie or ordering something.
Another funny fact about Leon is that heâs NEVER choosing something himself to order the dinner when youâre both in the office until later. He says itâs too much responsibility for one man, so he prefers to blame you. Once you said:âWhat are we having tonight, then?â And he said: âHmmm⌠Think itâs gonna take some hours so Iâd pick pasta. A lot. And beef, of course.â âEeew, Leon! We had pasta last night and the night before and I hate beef. Iâd choose salad and ice cream.â âSee? Good girl! Thatâs why I chose you as my soldier.â (You always flushed when he calls you âhisâ soldier, or âhisâ girl.)
Leon always makes you feel younger, not only by the fact heâs almost twenty years older than you, no. He makes you feel younger because he reproduces every single dad joke in the hole world in record time- looking inside your soul through your eyes, because the only reason he tells those jokes is to melt away with the indignant cold expression you give him in response. Thatâs the funniest game he plays, it seems, because he laughs for hours. When you say âAre you trying to make me cry or to quit my job? Because Iâm telling you, KennedyâŚâ He says âNooo, youâre not going anywhere.â And blinks. (Heâs right.)
You noticed Leon has no any relationship except by his job. Once you asked him, and he barely told you âToo busy, my girl. Why asking? Do I look that miserable?â And you told him: âItâsâŚjust impossible to get that youâre single. I mean, you may have so many choices, donât know.â He muffled a laugh and took off his eyes from the computer for the first time to spy your expression. âYou think? Thank you then, too kind of you. But reality hits different, believe me.â âMen always says that, playing the lonely miserable ones and stuff to make people feel sorry and expect the less embarrassing things about you.â He laughed loud this time. âWhat would you say then? Iâm a liar with extra time to date five girls a day?â He crossed his arms above his chest and stopped to listen to your answer. âWell, even you couldnât deal five girls in a day, so itâs a No. But I donât trust you.â You smiled thinking about this situation and threw a paper ball right against his head. âOuch! Eagle eye! I swear, thereâs nobody. Even if I wanted. The only girl I see is you.â âPoor Leon.â (You only said that to test him, you know) âWell, maâam? I wouldnât say Iâm miserable at all.â
Those tips of his always got you confused.
Thereâs another mood of his that makes you think too much about him and his actions. He always -I MEAN ALWAYS seems to enjoy himself playing your boyfriend in front of people. Always. He always brings things for you, and fix things in you. Always takes your chin with his index and thumb as an âokâ sign, always blinks to you, always send kisses to you when heâs few inches away. He always takes your hand to kiss it as a way to say âthank youâ when you does him a favor or something. This amount of affective actions keeps you in chains with him. In the soul, body, mind and heart. Youâd never loved someone so bad, but some things are hard to say and deal with. So you keep going to work beside him, doing things together pretending itâs completely necessary to stay this close as work partners when both of you know itâs not. But nobody cares.
Gossip
[id been unoccupied today and decided to share some things here, besides I decided to send some posted things away too ^_^ now letâs think about Leon telling gossip.]
In the middle of a long hiatus between the last and the next mission out of the country, you and your partner found yourselves stuck in the office. You two always tried to make good use of the extra hours that has been given to both.
It was just unavoidable to talk lots of bullshit, and it happens that, after long months living by your side, Leon learned how to gossip too. Seriously.
Given that youâre an investigative agent and reporter when youâre not out there in the missions, itâs almost your job to know every single thing about everyone. Isnât your fault. It just happens that, just like magic, all the news about anyoneâs personal lifeâs always appeared magically in your lap.
But, to know all of it and not sharing with your closest person did not bring any joy to your life.
Well, he didnât seem to like it in the start, he was more like: âHow and why do you know all those things about the doorman?â or âWhy do you care if they had an affair? Weâre busy people, little girl. Use your smart ass for useful information.â You always defended yourself: âBut Leonnnn, please, donât act as if Iâd been telling things around, Iâm just telling this to you, silly!â âBut why are you telling me all this?â âBecause itâs important to know information from people, so we can get into everything thatâs going on. I hate not knowing things, not understanding whatâs happening around us, we need emotion in days like that. Some fun.â Your tone was sad and bored. Leon felt sorry. âThink I can understand you⌠my fault choosing the biggest mouth in the whole universe to be my partner. Letâs talk about someone elseâs not-of-our-business life, then. You start.â
But now, heâs the one bringing things to you and you two got so practical at the thing that all he need is to come closer to you in the morning and whisper: âJesus, did you see that?â with a horror expression. âI told you, right? these two donât know how to keep things quiet.â âWell, you were right after all, then!â âJeez, they need to chill!â âRight??â
Thatâs how he became your new bestie. At this point, he was almost your husband - if you ignore some benefits you still didnât achieve from him.
And thatâs how everyone sees the two of you in the office now: whispering together in every corner with your mugs full of capuchin when youâre not taking care of the useful things, checking on each otherâs face after every bombastic email sent so you can see your reactions about em. Suddenly seems like no oneâs bored anymore. Leon really learns things fast.
