24/05: It's well after midnight and I arrive into Bali. No transfer arranged, just me and my backpack heading into a hostel (which mind you has multiple locations and addresses!?) Dropped off by a lost and confused taxi driver, to be checked in at one place but chaotically moved to another via wild scooter antics and to only wake up in some dirty back street alleyway... which wasn't anything like the acc I had booked. All fixed the next morning and have got a room at the actual Warung Cocos, not some tin shed with a jail cell hot box room. Phew... Bringing back so many memories of the jungle trek we did in Sumatra! "bagus" & "terima kasih" and of course Sambal for breakfast. It's time to get our there and explore Kuta for all it's confronting and weird qualities... 24-28/05: After quickly adjusting to the hot weather, the lingo and the fast pace of Kuta I set out on a quest to find what was so likeable about this place? What was the attraction? Obviously the surf for many, but at night it seemed even more where only there for the trashy nightlife and to objectify local women...or just women in general really... It seems like the only people I was meeting were Australians, packs of young guys and young girls all there to take drugs and get fucked up. Not really my scene anymore, but non the less I did quiet enjoy sitting opposite these places with a drink and people watching. After making some friends at Warung Coco, Vicki and I teamed up heading out most nights and most days. With a diverse selection of adventures we experienced midget boxing, snake dancing, lady boy shows, gay clubs, street performers, drug dealers, mushrooms heads, fish spas, dirty beaches, thunder storms + blackouts, creepy old men, revolting young tattooed guys, a girl power spewing on the bar, pimps, acrobatic bar dancers/prostitutes, homeless, hecklers, the rich and the poor. Wow..
