!!! WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP !!!
Over a month ago my bf and I had to rush Mogi ( the kitten ) to the vet since he suffered a fall from a 5 story tall building roof. He was stabilized after we were told his condition was life-threatening and were ecstatic to hear he was only in shock and would survive. He had air in his body where it wasn't naturally found, as well as a badly fractured and dislocated elbow. He was staying at the vet until he was completely stabilized, but the bills we had to pay grew and grew more every day.
We were never consulted about any x-rays or anything they charged us for at this point, and would only find out about the many procedures on the bill itself.
We also tried to ask about the price as soon as he was admitted and were informed it would be about $40, but it was gradually raised and by the end of the whole stabilization process it turned out to be $150+, which still hasn't been explained to us to this day. When this whole process was over, we were already emotionally and financially drained when we were informed that he'd have to have emergency surgery in the following 3 days or his leg would be immobile and he would be in huge pains for the rest of his life. With his best interest in mind, we accepted the surgery right away and were told the costs would be $200. WE COULD HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS SOONER, BUT THEY NEVER MENTIONED IT BEFORE IT WAS TOO LATE TO CONTEMPLATE WHAT THE BEST THING FOR HIM WOULD BE. We felt like they were trying to corner us so everything would go their way. But we only cared about Mogi.
The surgery turned out to be $250+, which also wasn't the price we were told, but we complied because it was already done with. After that he had to, and still has to go to regular checkups and treatments, which they also charge an insane amount for, and we also had to get expensive medicine for him on our own. There are also countless tinier things we were charged for, and the end amount isn't even set yet - at this point we are at around $500, which is an insane amount even for all of this. This is why we're asking for help.
