Meet new sewing pattern <Kaneel>  Moto jacket perfect for your next sewing challenge!

I’m excited to introduce a new item from Waffle Patterns! Meet my new sewing pattern, Moto jacket <Kaneel>.

This is everyone’s staple biker style jacket with versatile design and details. It’s perfect for your next sewing challenge!

This Kaneel moto jacket has fitted silhouette with front zipper open and stand collar, features moto jacket inspired cool details like various designs of zipper pockets or 2 parts sleeve with darts.

<length options>   There are 3 options for the length; short(straight hem), short(shorter back hem) and long version.

This wine red coloured sample shows the shorter back hem version(Short A). I like this design because it has very biker’s jacket-ish look and easy to coordinate with both pants and skirt. The sample with cream melange colour is the long length version. As moto jackets, short length is more standard, but if you want to make a general sporty jacket, this will be the option.

<pocket options> There are one chest pocket and 2 side zipper pockets and you can choose with or without welt. I think showing metal zipper teeth without welt makes more moto jacket-ish look. But we often cannot find perfect coloured zippers and neither did I. So the wine red sample shows a chest pocket without welt and side zipper welt pockets. 

The Long version has one more option for the side pocket. The cream coloured sample has zipper seam side pockets. (I’m planning to post a tutorial how to sew zipper seam pocket)

<fabric> Since the design is very fitted, I recommend to use fabrics with small elastane like stretch faux leather/denim/ or gabardine. I made 4 samples and the stretch percentage was 7~20%. 

If you want to sew with non stretch fabric or very thick fabric, or intend to wear it in cold winter on thick sweaters, please consider to adjust the pattern or choose a bigger size.

The lining has ease for fitting, so I used normal woven lining and it seems no problem. But if you use very stretchy fabric, taking stretch type lining will be better.

The wine red sample is stretch faux leather and the stretch percentage is 15-20%. The cream one is faux leather with flannel backing with about 7% stretch. 

I also made with softshell fabric (about 7% stretch) and light neoprene (over 50% stretch). (no photo here. sorry)  For the neoprene I should choose one size smaller. The same size as others is too big.

The sewing pattern includes the lining pattern, too. All the sewing process are described with detailed illustrations.
