The faeries stand tall and proud

in their castles of wood and of stone

They play with their dogs and their flowers

They dance 'round their queen on her throne

They laugh and they talk in the night

'Neath a sky of glittering stars

They forge their lies with silver tounges

Not caring that this leaves its scars

-

The undead shamble in the moonlight

Dwell in caverns which burrow so deep

Beside spiders and skellies they flourish

'Longside those who warp and who creep

-

Their snarls and their groans float through the air

'Neath a ceiling of grey and of earth

Their language a blend of harsh and of cruel

Most give their kind a wide berth

-

For while fae open their arms and their wings

Smiling and with good cheer

Zombies too hunt for their next meal

'Cept their prey treats them with fear

-

The fae are kind and gentle

Until the world shifts their place

Until their blade slips where your broken heart lies

"But Cleo!" They said, "you're part of this base!"

-

A zombie is cruel and callous

as it shelters away from the sky

For the universe has given an ultimatum:

It must hunt, or it shall die

-

Say what you will of the fae!

Their betrayal rings clear in my mind.

Say what you will of the zombie!

For I've never known a zombie
