I think it fades because granny is old. I don’t think they ever mention that Ruby’s condition is permanent. I think she will eventually lost the ability to turn like granny did.

She can turn someone. It’s just not a curse that can be broken. Granny was turned by Ruby’s grandfather, we can assume he was born.
ok I need to understand this. Ruby's grandfather was a wolf, Ruby's mother too and then Ruby. Granny was bitten, she turned, but, like she said, it faded away. So I'm guessing this "curse" (because if it were a real curse it'd be broken with true love kiss and I don't wish for that...) has two forms: The temporary and the permanent? Through bloodline, and a simple bite. Well it makes sense.
