@bifrostgold said: "You are not paying attention." Heimdall's laughter is low when Atreus hardly bothers to play pretend. Catching their wondering hand once more and pressing a light kiss to their knuckles. They may well know this spell already but his mothers always taught him to prefect the basics first, unless you wished to enchant the wrong thing. It is easy to become distracted though, especially in a stolen moment and when Heimdall turns his head to find them close he doesnt pull away. "Am I boring you?"(😘)
♔—- “Boring me?” Atreus replied though it was difficult to keep the soft whine off of their tongue when Heimdall grabbed hold of their hands. The gentle kisses along their knuckles did little to silence those whines because while it was definitely in the right direction of the type of affection they sought, it wasn’t nearly enough. “Heimdall, you could never bore me,” they murmured, easily wiggling their fingers between Heimdall’s, lacing them together so they could properly hold and squeeze the larger hands in theirs.
“But when you offered to sneak off for a bit of practice, I kind of took that to mean something... else. I mean, I didn’t think you were being so literal. How often do we actually do what our parents think we’re doing?”
Well, in their defense, they usually started out that way. Archery lessons, magical practice, even studies of things that Atreus knew little about. They learned so much from Heimdall and, in turn, Heimdall learned quite a bit from Atreus as well, but sooner or later, their excuse for running off on their own passed to the wayside, forgotten and abandoned for something much more appropriate for two young deities who were still new to exploring their love lives and wanted to continue the exploration with a rushed fever.
“We’ve been over this spell a dozen times by now anyway.” Not to say that Atreus thought themselves flawless. They understood they were young and they were still learning. In truth, they should have been more careful and more attentive. Their abilities were growing at an astronomical rate and the older they got, the more their power seemed to expand. Training became one of the most important things Atreus had to focus on, otherwise, they risked their magic running away from them, but it was often so difficult to focus when Heimdall was the one teaching.
As of late, anyway. At first, it’d just been a bit of embarrassed blushing and nervous glancing at Heimdall only to glance away when he actually noticed. For someone who could see literally everything, he certainly did seem to miss a lot. But once their mutual feelings were acknowledged and they actually acted on it?
Learning from Heimdall’s mothers almost seemed an easier feat because at least they weren’t the object of Atreus’ undying affection and unrelenting desire. Sure, some of his mothers could be extremely distracting in their own right. Not to name names or anything, but Atreus could mostly ignore their shenanigans and other distracting features or tendencies. Heimdall, though? Every day they spent together, it became harder and harder to give any attention to other things, even the most important of things.
Even with the understanding that they should try to focus a bit longer, their mind simply refused to linger on the same spell they’d done over and over again. Shifting, Atreus climbed into Heimdall’s lap, straddling his hips so fluidly, it felt like they’d been made to sit there. Leaning forward, they pressed their lips teasingly to Heimdall’s, gently nipping at the lower one before tracing their lips down along his jaw.
“Come on, love,” Atreus murmured. “We’ve been working hard. We can take a little break and enjoy ourselves before our parents inevitably shove in.”
They couldn’t really tell if Heimdall’s mothers intervened on purpose or if they just enjoyed embarrassing their son, but Kratos was very much intentionally trying to keep his eyes on Heimdall and Atreus. No matter how much Atreus attempted to convince their father that Heimdall was good for them and that they weren’t doing anything stupid, Kratos didn’t seem to believe the words.
Well, perhaps it wasn’t a lack of belief or trust, but an inability to cope. For so long, it’d been Atreus, their father, and Mimir in their travels. Kratos didn’t have to deal with things like their only living child taking an interest in romance and sex. For a while, Atreus hadn’t. Even when the appropriate age and maturity for such things rolled around, Atreus hadn’t taken much interest in those desires. Too much else to focus on and worry about, but now that Heimdall was around? Well, interest was not only piqued but captured almost always.
It must have been hard for Kratos to watch them go through such a thing and not really have any power to stop it.
“But if I’m boring you, then we can go over the spell one more time,” they murmured, though they refused to move their lips from Heimdall’s flesh, so the softness tickled along his throat with every word.
And then, just like that, Atreus pulled back. They stayed in Heimdall’s lap, but they let go of his hands and pulled their lips away. “How does it go again?” they asked, quirking a brow at Heimdall as if actually prepared to learn. They prayed Heimdall wouldn’t have the self-control for that...
