The best thing I have gotten for the wheelchair in a good while! And for the equivalent of like $40 off Amazon.
I sort of overestimated the ease of using a hand track pump with one full leg, even making sure to get a model which should be easy enough to hold down with one foot. 🙄 After awkwardly tipping over a few times while trying to pump up the tires, I started just getting Mr. C to use the thing before I did myself an injury with it. Which is...less than ideal, on several fronts.
So, I finally caved and picked up a little air compressor. And easily topped up the tires a little while ago, in maybe two minutes flat the first time using it! (Plus a hard carrying case, though it does come with a decent drawstring bag.)
The main drawback I can see so far, besides the noise, is that at around a pound/500g? It feels a little heavier than I may want to just stow on the chair as originally planned. But, we'll see.
Currently i have a tube patch kit and tire levers in the tool pouch, but no way to blow them back up on the go if I need to after the standard travel bike pump just didn't work out so well. 😒 May well be worth the little extra rolling weight, just in case.
