Okay the chances of the people actually making bible apps are reading this is low but still, here is what I want all bible apps to have
A) A settings panel, clearly labeled as such and easy to find
B) Dark mode Light mode Sepia mode. Please include the sepia mode. this is basically reading it should be easy to realize some people may prefer the Sepia mode
c) usable offline without an account of any kind, and nothing there to pressure anyone into making an account
d) text sizing. Or if there is not going to be text sizing make sure your default sizes aren't extra small. Please
f) Options for your non English translations, if it's not an app dedicated to a specific translation. I am tired of apps having well over 15 English translations and then for all the other languages there is just one. Even if there were like, two, instead, it would already make such a difference
e) settings for how and to what extent footnotes and other materials are displayed
Things that I don't need in a bible app, don't want in a bible app, and will actively find the app less comfortable to use if they include:
Ai chatbots to "explain" the text
a changing feed with things. I don't care what you put on the feed it's annoying when a bible app tries to be social media.
A whole elaborate shop. I understand there's licensing issues sometimes and sometimes the easiest way to offer a certain translation is to let people buy it but please don't like make a whole Thing out of it. Please.
Explainer videos & daily devotions & other stuff getting outmatically placed on a home screen wether I showed interesting in them or not.
Said devotions and videos and other things being presented as "hey isn't it cool how you can hear this ✨ Famous Person's ✨ thoughts on this?
