Especially this performance of Fuck You (An Ode To No One) goes so far beyond epic that my mind still has not returned with it after all these years. I'm regurlarly coming back, but my mind is not. So raw, brutal, possessed.
Jimmy Chamberlin is a monster on drums, so understated in his performance, so powerful in his impact, with James Iha laying down the coolness, as always, his mastery commanding discipline even in the most heated moments. Melissa Auf Der Maur, a goddess standing tall amidst the tempest, grounding their energies. And Billy Corgan celebrating this amazing song, elevating it to new heights with new highlights and nuances. Like a manic stagecoach driver urging his horses along steep clffs and through forests and moors, the reigns seemingly flapping losely in his hands but never a doubt about the tight grip he really has on them, bringing them all home safely.
