Who funded this movie??? Its such a breath of fresh air and feels highkey inspired by that one hunger games parody on yt. I knew I‘d like it just based on the posts made by other people but I didnt realize it was gonna be THIS GOOD grace is so messy and emotional and dorky i love him. Then he decided to go back for rocky despite having no guarantee that he could reach him in time to help and its just so **chef‘s kiss**
ok hope you dont mind my rant, I just had to write SOMETHing to someone who‘s already seen it

(little bit of spoilers? bit of some random things about the movie so not that much but I'd rather warn if someone wants so go in blind to see the movie :) )
I fucking love this movie so goddamn much. I went to see it 3 times in the cinema and I don't go to the cinema to watch a movie a 2nd time LET ALONE a 3rd time BUT I DID! The first time I went with my dad on my birthday to see it and it was a complete coincidence cuz I didn't even know anything about it, but we were like 'why not go to the cinema' so we looked and we saw the trailer and I thought 'hey, that looks fun' and I went into it knowing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING and came back WITH MY LIFE FUCKING CHANGED!!!
as soon as I came back home I downloaded the movie (it had a watermark and it was not the best quality but I don't give a fuck I have the fucking movie and I can watch it all over again!!!!) and so the next days I watched 2/3 of the movie like 3 times over and over again (mostly my favorite parts cuz I love it so fucking much) and then I went and ranted about it to my friend and she was like 'do you want to go again?' cause she didn't see it but she thought it sounded cool and I was like 'FUCK YES' so I went AGAIN (AND IT WAS RIGHT BEFORE MY EXAM TOO XDD) and then I was yapping about it to my mom and then SHE was like 'do you want to see it with me?' and OBVIOUSLY I was like 'FUCK YES!!!' and so we went to IMAX (tho it wasn't the real imax cinema cause from what i understand the screen wasnt curved or whatever)(and unfortunately we had to sit pretty close) but it was still cool
so yeah. I went to the cinema 3 times to watch it and then i got a better version of the movie (cause PHM deserves it <3)
and obviously when i saw it was based on a book I HAD TO GET IT BUT I CANT READ IT NOW CAUSE I GOTTA PREPARE FOR MY NEXT EXAMS (tho maybe ill find the time for it ;) )
you can just feel that the whole movie was made with so much love coming from everyone that made it and not just the main actors and the directors, but literally EVERYONE. the costume designers and the fact that they built a WHOLE ASS SHIP (I WANNA GO TO THERE SO BADDDD)
i just loved every second of it so god damn much<33
i love Grace's character, I love how so many people agree that he's aroace and it means so so much to me, i love how he calls his students his kids and actually really cares about them, i love his sweet tooth and fucked up glasses and i love how human and real he is. i love how his name is Ryland Grace (I LOVE MALE CHARACTERS WITH FEMININE NAMES AND VICE VERSA SO FUCKING MUCH VJKGDKYDKTDDKYDOYXTK ITS MY JAM!!!) I love you Ryland Grace you're the most real person of them all and i will never forget about you, ever.
i love Rocky's character so much, how he's an engineer AND HE MAKES THINGSSSSS (HE'S A CRAFTER JUST LIKE MEEEE), and how he just invited himself into graces ship and life and how sassy he is and logical and his dope ass tattoo engravings and how he's equal to grace but actually if one of them was the weird alien dog it would be grace and he would be the owner 😭😭 (also his voice is so perfect for him :] thank you james ortiz for making him so alive)
i love both of them so much, their friendship, the way they both got excited to see an alien form of life and how they decided to work together, their banter, the way they both imitate eachother, and the way both of them would die just so the other could live. they are the ultimate best friends forever and soulmates and eachother's person and honestly it makes me yearn for a connection that strong and to have a my person and be eachothers most important individual without the sexual and romantic aspects
i love how the movie has a straight up happy ending, just a feel good ending and everything worked out and there's hope and it just will be ok and we will thrive
there's so much to love about it, i love how it showed space, how there were so many warm colours and the petrova line is stunning and i would feel so at home in Grace's classroom, and i love the cinematography of the whole movie so so so much (In general I don't really pay attention to it but I very much so did here and after watching PHM I start to pay attention to in it other movies too) I love how parts were just filmed sideways and how the camera sometimes moved with grace and how it spun around and how parts were showed of what was happening through a screen/a recording on the ship and i just love so so so much of it
anyways, I'm completely enamored by this movie, I need to get posters of it for my room and also I started to work on a project hail mary themed jumper with lots of patches (its yellow!!)(im gonna share it as soon as im done!) and ngl im entertaining the idea of learning how to knit to knit the fox cardigan that Ryan Gosling wore cause its DOPE AS FUCK AND IT HAS A ZIPPER AND ITS SO COZY AND HE WORE IT AS A JACKET AND I NEED IT!!!! tho knitting is completely forein to me, I dont understand it, I get crochet, I understand crochet, but I do NOT get knitting, it's witchcraft to me. but hey, if I want it then I just gotta commit to the bit and learn
also I'm obviously planning to make grace and rocky fanart ;))) (maybe even a linocut or drypoint prints of them?? who knows! :) )
btw are you talking about the parody 'hunger games but better' by Grace Reiter (Grace, heh)??? if yes then I know what you're talking about and I saw it too XDD
