It feels like my anxiety only really got bad in the last few years, like I've traded depression and not caring if I live or die with a constant fear of dying now that I want to live, but I just remembered I wrote a fairly sizeable story in early high school that was predicated on the fact that the main character died because he was driving and looked away from the road for a split second to turn the heat down. Which was the kind of thing my parents warned me a lot about a lot. So you know. Maybe that anxiety has never been that far below the surface.
