Keep your fins crossed my small swimmy boy Kanda survives his swim bladder problem... I started his treatment today after noticing the problem last night but it may have been developing for a while (with the heat I thought he was just trying to stay cool under his plants).
He's not looking good though :(

Hey ya'll Riku is dealing with some fin rot. His fins have always had a bit of a shredded appearance from when I got him but I figured it would go away when I got him out of the .5 gallon he was in at the LFS. It has been about 6-7 weeks now and it seems to be getting worse but I cant tell (the two pictures are only a day apart so not a before and after). Anyone have any advice?
Hey bettablr my boy’s fins have been deteriorating the past few weeks and I have no idea why. He had shrimp tank mates a month ago but they got removed due to aggression. All his decorations are silk or live plants. Is this fin biting or a bacterial infection? It’s hard to tell but his fins are thinner than they’ve been. He’s in a heated, cycled and filtered 10g. Thank you!
Hi!! I might be able to help if you have any betta questions? I can't quite tell from the pictures here but if you think his fins look a little funky it could be that they're clamped up (happens when they're stressed or not feeling well) and with a better environment and more fun stuff to interact with he should open up within a few days to weeks. :) If it's not that it could be that they've torn or have fin rot in which with proper care they should grow back within a few months, depending!
Oooh okay, thank you! His fins do look a little bigger all of a sudden now that he’s had some time to adjust and explore. I’ll definitely be posting lots more (and better) pictures of him so you could get a closer look just in case anything is wrong.
I'm concerned that my youngest betta girl might be egg bound? How would I treat this? Is there something would be safe for her in case she's not actually egg bound?

Egg binding is not a particularly common predicament in fish (it’s more a concern for reptiles). My guess is it’s probably more related to constipation/diet, so review what you are feeding… if you’re using only dry/freeze dried foods that’s probably it. I’d work some thawed brine shrimp into the diet once in a while. Some Epsom salt, adding about 1-2 tsp per 5 gallons, works wonders here and is perfectly safe for Bettas even when healthy. It can be left in long term with no ill effects.

I recently adopted a troubled betta with a deformity (lump on his eye??) and I've been keeping him in quarantine for the past month. I noticed that he's got 2 small holes in his face - too small to take a pic of (I tried) but visible. They're about the same size as a small pore on a person. None of my other bettas have holes like this on the sides of their face. Is it the start of hole-in-the-head? Should I be worried?

Could be. Though cichlids are BY FAR the most susceptible to this condition (especially the jumbo ones), I have heard of a very few cases in the gourami family. You’ll want to treat with Metronidazole; few other medications will reliably work here.
My betta is a rosetail and he's got genetic s.b. disorder. It seems to be getting worse lately and he can barely stay upright. Most of the time he just floats on his side. Is there anything I can do to help him out? I've already been hand feeding

Genetic deformity with Bettas can sometimes present itself as “floatiness” problems, but diet also plays a part. You may wish to try foods with a laxative effect such as frozen brine shrimp and try cutting out anything freeze dried as these often lead to constipation issues. The addition of a small amount of Epsom salt, around 1-2 teaspoons per 5 gallons, is also useful here.
my betta's tail fin has some sort of cut and it's red it looks like it's been bleeding, what do I do??

Sounds like finrot-turned-septicemia. What you want is an antibiotic here… something like Triple Sulfa or a combination of Maracyn and Maracyn 2. Maybe Neoplex or Tetracycline.
Now here’s the thing to keep in mind. Finrot generally heals well on it’s own in clean water… that your Betta has progressed to septicemia tells me something in the water isn’t right. So make sure waste levels are appropriately low (0 ammonia and nitrite, <10 nitrate), water is warm (77-82 F or so), and the water is not too hard/alkaline or soft/acidic (dH 5-15, pH 6.5-7.5 best… but likely fine up to dH 20, pH 8). If all those levels check out, then it should be fine to return to the main display after treatment.
