How could you gatekeep these critters from my love, GameFreak??
Apparently most scrapped Gen3 designs from the leak were very half-baked, but when it comes to these, I feel so robbed π Fortune Teller Oyster!! Sunflower Seed Bunny Mom!! Happy fly with huge eyes!! Banana Loch Ness Monster!!! Those deserved making it to final cut Q-Q π
Also!! LATIKEN.
And this super weird cutie which was probably repurposed as a base for final Torchic once the wing-eared beta Torchic we already knew of was sent back for some editing π€
Shroomish used to be happy π
I have a suspicion that this little guy that was scrapped in Gen3 was actually reused as a base for Pawmi. Their legs have a very similar and peculiar shape, and they're both orange with said peculiar paws being of a lighter shade. Apparently its name was Monorabi and might've been an Electric Type as well (also yet another bunny!!), probably scrapped due to redundance with Electrike ... Welp, I've never been a fan of Electrike, so I think I'd have rather had Monorabi 'xD Welp, in a way, this is proven by me having picked Pawmi as a team member in my first SV run :')
A few preliminary Sugimori artworks for Gen3 mons were also found. This was Blaziken!! :O At a time where Latiken was presumably still planned in the game (not super sure tho because apparently this proto Blaziken doesn't have a sprite?? Dunno).
Also!! My beloved Banana Loch Ness cutie got an artwork as well, it seems it stopped being a peeled banana before being entirely dropped T_T
Tbh, with the issue Hoenn has with having many Water routes with the same Water-Type encounters repeating over and over, even having to take from pre-Gen3 PokΓ©mon to partially overcome this issue, I don't really understand why this one was scrapped instead of just getting some more polishing for finalization. It also seems to have been able to fit the Surfer (maybe even Diver) role better than Wailmer. Personally I would've just made its body a little bit bulkier and longer on the back and maybe edited a bit that sort of handler on its head (which looked more like that thing that keeps multiple bananas together in its previous reiteration, haha). It'd have been cool. I'm sure I'd have loved to have one of these on my team <3

Apparently Fortune Teller Oyster was called Uezari!! Eugh, why did they have to scrap it? It's so cute T_T
And Banana Loch Ness was called Puruun. According to the people putting this resource together, Puruun was actually a Flying Type that was previously (like from the leak from a few years ago) known as 'Sightseeing' which was said to having a calm and docile nature and loving carrying people on its back. It seems it might've been linked to Fly more than Surf then, however the Dex also says it rests on the surface of the sea when it is tired so it'd have probably been able to learn both Fly and Surf. Its horn also serves as a compass. I love this lil' guy.
Honestly if I were Game Freak, I would just put the Beta Gen 3 PokΓ©mon you drew into Gen 10.
Oh, I wish!! >-< π But I fear it's unlikely, especially for some of them, unless heavily reworked ... And if they get heavily changed, who knows if I'd still like them all as much ππ
I have an extremely strong suspicion that Monorabi was reworked into Pawmi, so in a sense it's like it did make it to release in the end :') And I love the Pawmi line, so that makes me happy π
I think Warabbit might've been reworked into Scorbunny, albeit with a change of type, who knows! If we ever get a Water bunny, especially if it's a starter, though, I doubt they'll make it white like Scorbunny π€
Something that really worries me about the leak of Betamons is, that maybe GameFreak actually scraps those ideas entirely once they accidentally get known to the public. GameFreak has admitted years ago that rummaging through old rejected designs to reuse as a base to work on for new Pokemon is part of their creative process, and this is probably why it is so jealous and stingy when it comes to disclosing old concepts and ideas, because theoretically they might always come back in the future and if they let the audience know about them it will no longer feel like something never seen before. To put this even more into perspective, see how they clearly reused a rejected Pokemon from Gold/Silver (1997, and we don't know if it was maybe even older and already around during the development of Red/Green) as a base for Fennekin (2013):
Then again, counterpoint: they did give Farfetch'd an evolution in Gen8 (2019), despite a leak in 2018 (the same from which we know about proto Fennekin) revealed that such an idea had been already considered for Gen2, despite rejected. Sword/Shield released in November 2019, though, and from what we know so far its development was pretty rocky with rumours of them even apparently losing months of work progress and having to restart from an earlier build. I think times were too tight to even think about scrapping the Gen8 Farfetch'd evolution (Sirfetch'd) due to the Gen2 one (Madame) leaking ... They look very different anyway, albeit both white. Also, fun fact: Madame was scrapped so late in development that Wooper, the Pokemon that overwrote it, still has Madame's footprint in the Gold/Silver Pokedex.
They had also used Sirfetch'd as part of SwSh's marketing campaign, revealing it as a pixelated image and challenging people to guess what it looked like. Back in the day, I had tried my hands at it too but I thought it was a Farfetch'd regional form instead of its evolution :')
... Nonetheless, I might be mistaken but I don't think Gen9 features any of the Betamon we had learned about in 2018~2020 due to leaks. If there's any, it has been changed beyond recognition. Now, this might just be a coincidence, but there's also a chance it is not.
And, if it's not a coincidence, it might mean that they want to avoid reusing leaked Betamon as a base for future Pokemon and projects, unless changed so heavily that they aren't clearly recognizable in any way, anymore. If this is what GameFreak has decided, then I fear there's no hope for those Betamons now T-T π
Personally, I think this would be a very stupid decision because they could analyze the feedback for leaked Betamon and purposefully go and officially release those that got lots of positive feedback (for instance, I think most people are delighted about Warabbit!!) after a not-overly-invasive design update.
Buuuut, welp, I know GameFreak. And from the idea I've gotten of them throughout the years, this doesn't really sound like something they'd do. I let my door open to being surprised and proven wrong, but it feels a little uncharacteristic of them, imo. They might consider it a proof of weakness if they do something based on a feedback that was only possible to get through the illegal acquisition of informations. Maybe they'd see it as an invitation to be attacked by hackers again.
So yeah. Sadly, I can't afford to hold my hopes up to see those critters in the future of the franchise. I really really hope to be proven wrong but, yeah ... ππ
