Todays Snake Is:
The Mountain Adder or Berg Adder (Bitis atropos) is a venomous species found in southern Africa. As the name would suggest, these snakes are found in mountainous areas of up to 3,000 meters (9,800 feet) in altitude. They will defend themselves vigorously by hissing and writhing when disturbed. Though no human fatalities have been ascribed to this species, it, like all other venomous animals, should still be treated with respect and caution.
