And thatās mainly because thatās- well, Steve doesnāt know what to say, doesnāt know if he should say anything at all because clearly Billyās not asking Steve to talk him out of his decision. Heās telling Steve exactly what heās doing with himself, and either Steve can support that or he canāt, and thatās just so damn upsetting.
Upsetting because Steve knows thereās something here between them, feels it every time Billy looks at him with a grin, when heās mocking Steve or gone absolutely quiet like he canāt believe heās real. Itās shown in the late nights theyāve had in Steveās bed, finding comfort in one another through more than just sex, Billy steadily talking to Steve despite the shadows of his past convincing him that everything is better under lock and key.
Itās in the way Billy kisses Steve like he might disappear and in the way his anger buzzes but never comes in contact with Steveās skin. Together, theyāve built something of their own, and itās not even Billyās fault that he canāt keep it.
