Here are my headcannons:

- Himbo stay at home dad husband.

BUT, he's an ex nurse who quit when Dana got pregnant so he could take care of the kids. Or like ex police officer who'd flirt with her whenever he was in the hospital.

- Massive man, like absolutely humongous. He towers over everyone and is the size of a door.

-gets up at ridiculous o'clock every morning to make Dana packed lunches

-disgustingly sickly sweet nicknames. Like horrifically sweet.

- the reason why they have a hard rule against her bringing home kids from the hospital is because they have a no strays house policy after Dana brought home 12 kittens and they managed to tear down a wall somehow (and she brought home robby once)

- supportive as hell in whatever Dana wants. Other than the 12 kittens.

I know I asked what Benji should do but then I became obsessed with this idea that he’s a tenured history professor who is one of the leading researchers of Joan of Arc and he was born in France. He came to Pittsburgh to give a lecture at the school when he met Dana at her go to coffee shop and he fell in love with her instantly. He moved to Pittsburgh, got a job, supported his wife in her job. Is so obsessed with her actually that he actively refers to himself as Mr. Dana Evans. Him and Jack are best friends, gushing over writing research papers for fun.

Their daughters are names Joanie for Joan of Arc and Mary for the Virgin Mary. Joanie latched onto Jack when he started working at the PTMC, becoming his shadow whenever he was over. She’s 28 now with her own baby girl named Jacqueline “Jackie”, taken from the French origins of her dad and named after her ‘uncle’.

Robby & Mike’s wedding is a hodgepodge of different traditions. Robby, as a kid, leaning at the hip of his bubbe, always loved hearing her wedding stories and imagined them for himself. So at their wedding they had a chuppah and they broke glass and Jack’s army buddies (and a few of the ED’s stronger staff members) assisted in the hora.

On Jack’s side, he was raised catholic, but as an army brat so the only time he ever really saw what a wedding looked like and resonated with him was with Muppets Take Manhattan (he was nine when it came out and it was a luxury for his dad to even take him and his brother to the movies).

He already had his “dream wedding” with Eliza, so now he was shifting to the more ‘this means a lot to me’ vibes, such as vows, a flower girl (Mary Evans) and a ring bearer (Joanie Evans). Benji Evans was his best man and he refused to see Mike until they walked down the aisle

Abe is 33, Benji is 31, Colten is 29, and Dennis is 28. Dennis was the surprise, but also Maggie and Robert (Robby Whitaker) don’t believe in birth control of any means so idk why they were shocked when she announced she was pregnant again

Abe met his wife Sue while square dancing and she was better than him in every way. She could out drink him and keep herself on the mechanical bull. It took him three shots to get the courage to ask her out

Colten met his wife Jane when he was touring colleges his junior year of high school. He knew he wasn’t going to apply but, hey, free field trip. And she sold him a joint at half price bc he was polite

Originally, Robby was supposed to take Jake and Mary to Pittfest but then Jake met Leah and Mary offered to be the adult for the day no big deal (she was 21) and had left them during a set to get them some food when the shooting started. Mary refused to leave the festival grounds until she found her ‘cousin’ and his girlfriend but she had a wicked concussion from getting trampled, and so eventually SWAT was able to lure her to PTMC where her mom held her as she cried that ‘Uncle Mike is going to be so mad at her’. Benji Evans was the one to tell her about Leah, and she had to be told three times on account of the concussion before the information stuck

Joanie used to be an advent smoker before she got pregnant with Jackie and had seen the effects that addiction can have on moms and babies from her nursing experience. She quit cold turkey and uses candy, specially blow pops, as her means of getting a fix. It works great when she’s on the Peds floor, but sucks in the ED

Jake is essentially Mary and Joanie’s baby cousin, so when Janey and Mike broke up Mary begged that Mike at least keep Jake around. She would go on to baby sit him for both Janey and Robby whenever the call arose

I know I asked for recommendations for what Benji did for work but then someone said “what if he’s a history professor?” And my brain went brrrrr. So Benji is a history professor who’s from France and works at the University of Pittsburgh and he specializes in Joan of Arc and 15th century France.

He met Dana bc he had come over to the states to give a lecture (he was 34, she was 28) and he had just stopped to grab a coffee from the nearest shop. The coffee was mediocre and not worth the long wait, but there was a woman who was waiting for her order that was just drop dead gorgeous. He ended up going to that shop every day until he worked up the courage to ask her name. Dana. He would’ve asked her to marry him then and there if he was a dumber man.

He quit his job in France, took up a position as a history professor (way over qualified but he’d quit every job if Dana asked him to). They had their first daughter four years later, a girl named Joanie after Benji’s work and fascination with Joan of Arx and their second daughter five years after that named Mary.

Jack and Benji are best friends, because they’re both research nerds and if ever one of them gets that itch to write a paper, the other will drop everything and write his own with him. Benji got Jack a guest lecturer position at the school that he occasionally does. Whenever he has a lecture, Benji offers extra credit to his students to go and write a paper on it. They’re confused at first why the history teacher is so gunho about the medical school but then they hear Jack speak and they go “no wonder you guys are married 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️” even though Benji talks about Dana all the time.

Benji’s also the only one in Jack’s life who still likes to go camping in rural Pennsylvania. They each thought the other liked to fish (each hated it but did it for the other) and after they realized that they were doing it bc they thought the other enjoyed it, they had actually gotten pretty good at it.

Whenever someone tries to tell Benji he married beneath him, he says “would you rather I raised my hand on a plane if someone asked for a Dr or my beautiful wife. I have a doctorate in 15th century France. She has a nursing degree and years of experience.”

After Pittfest, Dana refused to tell Benji the whole truth on how she was attacked by Doug. He eventually got it out of Robby and in anger he went up to Gloria and threatened her by saying he would make sure that no one from the university of Pittsburgh medical school ever worked at PTMC unless she got her shit together. It was the first and only time he ever pulled rank on Dana’s behalf but he would be damned if someone laid a finger on her again.

Dennis audited one of his religious classes during his first year of med school (he tried to stay on campus as long as he could since he didn't really have anywhere else to go) (Joan of Arc also resonated with Dennis since he had done everything that was asked of him through religion and still felt like he was being punished) and he had thought that Professor Evans was the hottest man he had ever seen and sat in that class so confused why he felt this way in a religion class. It helped that Benji is very much an ally and anti-toxic masculinity

When Benji had come by to drop off lunch or smt for his wife in the PTMC, Dennis recognized him and attempted to avoid him at all cost

Robby assumed that Dennis had failed one of his classes or smt and not that he was having a gay crisis

When Joanie and Mary were younger (before they started school), he took a lower paying job at the college so that he could be at home more so that Dana could continue to work as a nurse without jeopardizing her position

When Eliza died Jack def took a step back from every relationship he had (it was a miracle that Robby was able to hold on tight) but when things got really bad Benji pulled out the 'There's a little girl who misses you' card, which was a dick move, but it's what Jack needed to come back into himself

Benji always thought it would have been funny if Joanie had chosen Michael Robinavitch as her 'person' since the correlation between Joan of Arc and Archangel Michael, but Joanie takes after her dad and ofc took to making Jack her go to person

Joanie and Mary have the most fucked up accent ever. You're mixing a native french man and 'baby jane doe'. So you be the judge on how that sounds

Benji is 66, Dana is 60, Robby is 54, and Jack is 50

The fifteen year age gap between Jack and Benji is very entertaining for everyone who interacts with them

Also I realized today that I have once again placed George Clooney (who has a French citizenship lol that's wild) in love with a charge nurse with two daughters
