Sorry, haven't started the next page of 'Just Desserts', yet, but here's a little something for anyone who's still jonesing for this asshole.

In a full-on sci-fi setting I could absolutely see Ben as a space-faring bounty hunter/vigilante. He'll take a really dangerous job if the scum is scummy enough and the pay is high enough, but there are some 'jobs' he just sort of stumbles onto that are worth doing for their own sake.

For example: Ta-da! That slaver cartel that's been stalking around some 'rural' colonies is "taken care of", now! Did someone hire him to do it? No. Still worth the trouble? Absolutely.

Since I’ve been such a diamond-hard dick to Ben all through ‘Just Desserts’ I decided to make it up at least a bit by giving him a shameless pin-up.

I’m hoping to “properly” line and fully color this. Also, is it obvious that I’ve never really drawn leg hair before? Probably.

'Twilight' is a series that romanticizes abusive relationships, and Maurice is just not about that, fam, especially having been the victim of one. Possibly his most hated vampire-related media (Taika Waititi's 'What We Do In The Shadows' is his favorite).

If Maurice had won this nondescript bet, Ben would have had to read 'The Fountainhead', which... Ben has read both 'Atlas Shrugged' and 'The Fountainhead', but that was years and years ago when he was in high school, before he swung left harder than a car that just blew a tire.

Now you all can see why this one took so much longer than the others. 14 panels is... a lot... and I had to do a whole bunch of research and reference-hunting and find a decent tutorial for painting sweat because I'm pretty sure I've literally never drawn sweat in my life (and it was an extremely last-minute addition, but I like how it turned out). Really pleased in general with how this page turned out, but I'm hoping I won't have any more quite this complicated and labor-intensive.

Also, this is why you wear your seat belts, kiddos...

Hahaha, I am the worst to my characters and I have absolutely zero regrets...

...guys, glowy stuff and explosions are just super fun to draw, so, Ben was really the perfect character for me to center a comic around.
