So most of us, if not everyone know about Winx Club. That show was awesome and ahead of it's time! With good fairies and bad witches, the specialists, it was absolutely grand. Not to mention it gave off a certain Harry Potter-ish vibe. I used the term *was* mainly because I haven't watched the recent seasons yet but I did watch a few clips of the season going on and I was mainly just confused. Okay, let me back this up a bit. It was always an exciting moment to watch their new transformations and every member of the Winx Club having a personality of their own. The addition of the specialists helping them out, being their boyfriends as well was a great thing as well. But here are a few things that made me feel a little different for the show (I don't want to use the word dislike because it's still great, atleast up to season 7),
1) I kind of felt a little dislike for the show when Musa and Riven broke up. Like I get it, their relationship wasn't healthy and it was always an on again off again thing but it still was very sad. I liked them together and as kind of hoping that they go on a break and then eventually make their way back. I haven't watched season 8, so I don't know if that's the case (them making their way back together) but I'm hoping that happens. They have been through a lot of things together and then to break it off made it really sad. And I get it if they were trying to make it a little realistic with not everything turning into a fairytale happy ending and it still being okay but personally with shows like these, I'd like it if they kept it like a fairytale. Again, I know shows like these tend to have atleast some lessons for the younger generation to learn from but like I said, just a personal opinion.
2) When Nabu died. I was so sure that he wouldn't die, because obviously he just can't. And then he does and I was absolutely shocked. Again, like I said previously as well, I get it, they were trying to show that yes, you lose people along the way but you gotta keep moving on and ofcourse better things will come your way but boy was all that a heartbreaker. When did the show go from everything simple and good defeating the evil to a good person actually dying?! I know shows progress, they mature over time but this was just brutal.
Other than that, there are some pretty phenomenal things about the show as well. From Blooms amazing leadership skills to actually admitting when she is wrong to Musa's charm and music to Flora's tender and soft spoken attitude to Stella's outgoing, headstrong personality to Techna's technological advances to Laila's athletic tendencies and in all this they knew how to kick ass! It has a great plot, which smoothly kept moving forward not to mention The Trix and the other evil weren't bad as antagonists either. What I'm trying to say is that this show was something you'd want to see but is considered unrealistic and that is imagination. So what happened?!
I think it's the new animation in season 8. Season 5 was amazing with Beleivex and then it kept getting better with Sirenex and even better after that till (The world of Winx, even tho I'd love to see the specialists in them) but then in season 8 the animation was just weird. So off-putting. They look like 6 year olds playing dress up? And don't even get me started on the specialists. Maybe the plot is great but I can't bring myself to watch it.
This isn't a hate post for Winx Club at all! I love the show and am hoping that he next season has the animation from season 7 or before. Other than that, who wouldn't want to be a fairy with magical powers and have a good looking boyfriend, great friends and a home planet to protect by their side?
