                   “     trust me, you don’t wanna know.     ”

                   “ Is it really any surprise he left you on the side of the road? “ eyes widen as she realises what she’s said but she can’t stop herself. Is she projecting? Is this really how she feels? “ I mean, look at you, you’re pathetic. “ brunette scoffs, hand running dark tresses as she works her jaw.  “ You can’t even keep it together for five minutes, even when your sisters life depends on it! “ she exclaims. “ and you have visions, for gods sake you could help me find her but you don’t even know how to use them- or you won’t. “ hand fly up into the air. “ I’m not a babysitter, if you’re not here to help, go home. “

          truthfully, she was at a loss of what to do or say either, but it was not the first ( not even since she’d met him ) and likely wouldn’t be the last. her eyes remained on him, trying to read just how he was feeling. she certainly had had some difficulty knowing that the man of her dreams for two years hadn’t recognized her, no love at first sight to be had. she’d made peace with that and now it was becoming upended again.

“    she  isn’t  mine.    ”    he  says  it  as  a  reminder  to  himself.  he  does  it  every  so  often.  she’s  his  niece.  she  is  elijah’s  daughter.  grayson’s  daughter.  not  his  responsibility,  not  his  problem.  he  believed  and  lived  by  that,  for  as  long  as  he  could.

Obtaining an invitation into Elena’s home was easy enough, what with the high school party raging on, but finding and cornering the girl was a bit more difficult than she would have liked, if only because she had to avoid getting hit on. Really, Aurora just wanted to find the girl and be done.

“You know, the other you is much prettier.”

he regarded the stranger passively for a moment. this sort of teasing remarks he could expect from his siblings, though they at least knew that where bees were involved they should not push him. all of them were perfectly aware of their father and his untimely demise. this person was not aware.
