❝ How about we just never mention this again? ❞
A frustrated sigh escaped Sienna’s lips, and she fixed a pointed gaze on Anthony, arms crossed over her chest. She had been feeling better about the ‘coffee machine incident’, as it had come to be known within Lab #1, and had gone to apologise to Anthony again, a steaming cup in hand made from the still-functional pot in Lab #2.
“I’m just trying to be nice, Doc. The coffee pot was important to us all. But we have to move on,” she said, her voice entirely sincere but betrayed by the hint of amusement that tugged at the corners of her lips. “Your coping strategies are admirable, by the way,” Sienna added, her tone sarcastic.
The mood had soured in the lab, and over something so small Sienna couldn’t stand the triviality of it.
“Listen, I’ll make it up to you. When we get back in contact with Earth, and whenever in the future another ship comes along... I will convince whoever I need to convince that a new coffee pot for the doctor is high priority. I have the skills, and the psychological jargon. I can do this. Then you’d better be happy again.”
