Was there ever a question of Scarlett skipping a year/ testing out early?
I don’t think that this school really does that. It would deprive Chris of a year’s worth of tuition.

To be fair to sly, 4 was terribly written, like, even worse than one (which was mostly just simple). I tend to ignore 4 in terms of character development because Carmelita and Penelope especially went from well-written characters whose gender informed but did not dictate their characters to "Stock Women Archetypes B and C: Lazy Tsundere and Manipulative Unfeeling Bitch". Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

I do think that there’s an uncomfortable gendered vibe to how Penelope’s betrayal was handled, but that’s a subtle problem you need to squint at to notice so it kind of gets buried under... everything else.
