-Don’t compare yourself to others

Some people learn faster than others whist some people take longer to learn! So don’t compare yourself to someone else who memorised the Korean alphabet in 2 hours! Just because you didn’t finish yours that fast doesn’t make you bad at the language. After all, you’re just learning!

-Keep yourself motivated!

Personally, I think motivation is extremely important, especially when you’re learning something new. That being said, learning a new language also need some motivation! Find a way to motivate yourself, whatever it may be and it’s going to help you get through your learning journey a lot smoother and a bit better!

-Ditch the romanisation.

Romanisation can be really helpful at first but not only are they very hard to read, they can also be slightly incorrect and sound anything but natural. Letters such as ‘ㄷ’ can be pronounced as ‘d’ or ‘t’ depending on the word and the situation, making romanisation unsuitable. So try learn pronunciation off something other than romanisation!

-Learn from your mistakes

Instead of just skimming over a mistake, make sure to actually understand where you went wrong and try a question similar to it! If you get the similar question wrong, then make sure to revise harder! :)

-Write it down

Writing stuff down has been proven to help you memorise it better! So please make sure to grab a spare notebook and write all the information down! If you don’t know how to, studyblr itself is such an inspiration and motivation to write it down in your notebook!

-Keep track

I would recommend you to grab a spare journal or a journal you’re using and keep track of what you’ve learnt, and what you’ve conquered! By doing this, you can clearly see your process and it definitely motivates you to do more! Even when you want to give up, just take a look at how far you’ve come!

-Practice everyday

This is probably well known to all of you :D Whether it’s sports, music, learning a language or anything, practice is key! And I know everyone says this so I’ll save you from the suffering and make this quick :) Practice, practice, practice!

-Read it over and over again

Memorising vocabulary is hard but understanding and memorising punctuation and grammar is a whole new level. As someone who’s learning a language as well, I know how damn hard it can be trying to understand why the heck that weird thingy goes after the subject! That’s why it’s even more important to read it over, and over again, until you actually understand! Pretending you understand it and just lying to yourself, is definitely not an easy way out (I’ve tried it and please don’t it like messes up everything you’ve learnt and makes you question life).

-Use different resources

Some of you tend to learn better and faster using flashcards, while some of you prefer to do worksheets! Although writing it down in your notebook is a must, some extra resources can definitely help! I do have a quizlet (flashcard app&website) class as well as worksheets to help you on your way! so if you need any extra practice or resources, make sure to use them!

-Ask for help!

Easy to say and I know some of you can be shy in asking for help (I mean, I can’t even order food at McDonalds so), but please don’t be scared! I know how terrifying it can be to ask someone to explain something a bit further but in the long run, it’s only going to help you! I have so many different platforms you can talk to me on so please don’t be scared!
