The Maid was one of the most enigmatic classes to me, up there with the Heir and the Rogue: what they do seems simple on paper (“creates their aspect” is the common definition), but actually coming up with applications for it is the hard part. However, @funkmclovin ’s video on aspects proposes the ‘Vibes Theory,’ in which each aspect can only be fully understood in the context of the full aspect wheel.

Now, I believe that classes have more concrete individual identities, but this can still be applied to things like aspect pairs. The model I use has Maid as the Active counterpart to Sylph, and the pair together are matched with Knight (-) and Page (+). I think that each class draws a bit from each other class in the set, while doing something that no one else does. A class matches especially well with the other class of the same polarity (in this case, Knight.) that’s when it hit me:

The Knight is the sword, the Maid is the shield!

While the Sylph’s defensive abilities focus on healing, the Maid is the shield bearer that everyone else advances behind (see Reinhardt from Overwatch), empowering like the page by letting allies attack more aggressively. When the Knight overextends and has to fall back, the Maid is there to block fire.
