āYouāre sure this is what you want?ā
Taken aback, Cerise stared into Kiteās eyes. Pools of umber held a sense of hesitation and anxiety. He studied her and she him until her lips curled, giving some semblance of him an answer. Her body closed the space between them, crimson eyes never breaking their hold on his.
āYes.ā Her gently lay on his chest, molding to his form. The thudding of his heart only prompted a soft giggle from her as she continued.Ā āI have never wanted anything more than this.ā
The look in his eyes still wavered, his doubts and fears dancing through his head as this goddess smiled up at him.
āI canāt give you the life you deserve, Cerise. Osprey could-ā
āYes you can.ā
The bold declaration startled him. His head cocked to the side, clearly not understanding such a simple statement. It held within its words an assumption that Kite held anything of value. No title, no birthright, no rank to speak of, and certainly little to no prospects. What could he possibly offer her as he is right now?
Cerise pressed on,Ā āYou have it in you to leave and start over. We both can. Youāre intelligent, have a kind heart, youāre strong in more ways than just one, and hold skills that iām still struggling to be mediocre at.ā
He laughed, feeling his face grow more and more red. Compliments werenāt something he was ever prepared for, but to hear sweet proclamations come from this spunky beauty tugged at his heart. He had never felt an ache so pleasant.
āKite, youāre beyond your prison here. They donāt deserve you. None of them. So, lets just leave. Lets start fresh and leave all of our regrets and sorrows behind. We can begin our life...truly begin it...together.ā
The shape shifter had to pause, making Cerise a little uneasy. Suddenly, the warmth of Kiteās calloused hand brushed against her cheek. He bent his neck and brought himself closer to her wearing a smile that described his feelings far better than any phrase or sentence could.
āMarry me.ā
Ceriseās breath hitched, her lips parting as if to ask if he was serious. She neednāt bother, Kiteās soft expression answered her question.
āMarry me, Cerise.ā He repeated it once more, his thumb caressing her skin. The hesitation had disappeared from his eyes and his voice held no question.Ā
Her smile grew even wider as the word danced from her lips.
āYes.ā
