I had a long discussion today with someone about Hand Stitching vs Machine Stitching First of all the threads are totally different. Hand Stitching threads are much ticker, either round or braided and always heavily waxed with Bees Wax. I have only shown Hand Stitching threads here. The three spools on the left are about 1 mm round; The three in the middle are about 0.7 mm round; The Flat Braided ones from the right are about 0.6 mm thick and 1.5 mm wide. The fattest brown one in the middle is about 0.75 mm thick and 3 mm wide. The machine stitching threads are normally thinner and have a special coating for lubrication for high speed stitching and are called Bonded threads. One can use very thick machine thread but you have to pass it through a container of machine oil to the needle to lubricate the thread. #277 thread appears to be 1 mm round. I normally use #138 which seems to be 0.5 mm round. Of course the needles for hand stitching are different with different thickness, holes for the thread and points. __ Shop link in my bio . . . . #iphone #leatheriphonecase #makingiphonecase #leathercraft #leatherstitching #leatherstitchingthread #stitchingleather #handstitching #machinestitching #handstitchingthreads #waxedthreads #beeswax #beeswaxedthreads
