drinking is kinda overrated
Any beer recs for someone who thought they didn't like beer for a long time? Most beers I've tried I really dislike, but I like Sleeman Honey Brown, and I think I once tried a sort of... Fruity beer? It tasted enough like the flavour it advertised that I liked it. Also, what is your favourite beer? :)
PSA: for all I drink a shitton of beer, I'm not actually all that knowledgable of them - YE HAVE BEEN WARNED!
That said:
If you like fruit beers, fruit Lambics are usually pretty nice. I like fruit beers as long as the fruit addition is really subtle - I tried one that tasted like creaming soda once and urgh - never again!
My beer preference usually changes based on what my goal of the evening is. If I'm having quiet, mid-week drinks I'll usually go with whatever's on special that's not swill (swill will vary from country to country - in Aus it's xxxx and VB).
If I'm only having one or two and we're at a craft beer place I'll go for a stout - something dark, rich and terrifying.
If I'm out on the town and can afford to blow a little more on decent beer I'll usually go for IPAs and wheat beers. I fell in love with White Rascal when I was in the states and I haven't been able to find it since I got back :(
If you're just starting, I'd suggest going for something simple-ish like an IPA. If you're just starting and you're broke, whatever your local equivalent of Corona is might work - it's light enough to not assault your tastebuds but cheap enough (usually) to not blow your budget. Keep in mind, if you're hanging around any beer snobs they're going to heckle you to hell and back for going the Corona route, but IMO you're better off starting simple than trying to down a Guinness first go - that way lies you being scared off beer for life.

I want to complain at somebody about how I think beers are too hoppy and I want all stouts all the time and why are IPAs so damn popular they're overrated wtf
