Hello lovely!! for the ask game I'd like to knowwwwww: ๐ฟhow does creating make you feel? & ๐คฒwhat do YOU get out of writing?
Aah hi lovely Becky! Thank you for asking these; I hope you're having a good weekend so far โค๏ธ x
๐ฟhow does creating make you feel?
It changes a lot! Sometimes when I'm deeply invested in a story and filled with inspiration, it feels wonderful and like a compulsion to keep writing to the point where I won't want to do anything else (helllllo, hyperfocus mode dflgkj). And then there are times it feels like trying to draw blood out of a stone, and everything I write is humiliating and garbage. Interestingly, I was listening to someone speak recently about creativity, and he made the comment that when he looks back at his work, he can't actually remember which were the parts he wrote when he was in "flow" mode and which were the parts he wrote when he was in "dry" mode. The quality of his output hadn't changed at all despite how drastically different it felt at the time. I try to remember that on the slower days!
๐คฒwhat do YOU get out of writing?
I think writing makes me more perceptive, more empathic, more open-minded and sometimes even helps me to make sense of the way other people behave and the things going on around me. I also just really really love sharing a story and having someone tell me it meant something to them or stayed with them. It's only happened a handful of times but I'm not kidding when I say that it's one of the things that makes me feel just a tiny bit less panicked about The Void of Existence flkgjdflk.
