“ oh, it's YOU. ”

man  didn’t  need  to  sleep.     a  few  hours  here  or  there  and  he’s  good  to  go.     but  the  amount  of  time  he  spent  in  his  bed  now  was  ten  times  that  than  he  usually  would.     not  that  he  minded.    and  it  was  truthfully  tiring  work.      sheets  are  tangled  around  him,    the  only  covering  over  bare  flesh  as  he  lays  chest  down,    head  turned  away  from  her.      she  was  sleeping,    and  he  refused  to  move.     refused  to  even  budge  her  lest  she  awaken  and  he  feel  the  guilt  of  robbing  her  sleep.     but  head  does  turn  to  look  at  her,    drinking  in  every  inch  of  resting  features,    such  adoration  cast  towards  her.

                𝐈𝐓   𝐖𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃𝐍'𝐓   𝐁𝐄   𝐓𝐇𝐄   𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓   𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 .      not   at   all .     but   he   likes   to   think   of   himself   as   quite   resilient .     he’s   been   through   quite   a   lot   and   come   through   the   other   side   fine   enough .     although  ,    maybe   a   bit   scathed .      lips   straighten   into   a   thin   line   as   he   looks   to   the   table   in   front   of   him .     there   sits   a   nine   fingered   alien   gesturing   him   over ;      𝐊𝐍𝐈𝐅𝐄   𝐈𝐍   𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐃 .               maybe   he   should   reconsider .

          ‘ can’t believe she beat me to it ! ‘ the doctor inhaled, embarrassed while he rubbed at the back of his head with his palm. the TARDIS had taught rose how to fly her already. the console room hummed and buttons made small noises. whizzes and beeps and sounds that sounded a bit...purple. ‘ well--never mind. ‘ his voice raised about ten octaves, leaning in with a smug smile and high brows. perhaps he had something else more impressive he could teach her that she couldn’t. but he wouldn’t let her in on it now. 

       hands slid into his coat pockets, just quietly admiring her. he really wasn’t alone, then. another time lord, just like him. this time....he’d take great care. deep eyes glistened for a moment, watching the blonde busily pull and yank at levers and buttons on the console. 

      ‘ everywhere and anywhere in the universe. you can see it. ‘ curious, his head tilted a bit, nose scrunching. ‘ don’t think I’ve ever gotten a chance to ask this. no one’s shared the same mind as me--been in the same TARDIS as me like that in-- ‘ eyes searched the ceiling while he counted-- 

i  don’t  know  your  thoughts  these  days,     we’re  strangers  in  an  empty  space.   i  don’t  understand  your  heart.     it’s  easier  to  be    a p a r t.

as if he'd ever complain about that , grin growing higher on one side than the other . not quite a smirk , but a smug grin was definitely plastered across features at the thought . no hesitation as arms curl around her , pulling her flush against him , looking down at her with mischief in hues . " you don't have to ask me twice , you know that . "

CAN'T  say  this  is  the  weirdest  thing  she's  ever  seen,  but  it's  not  exactly  typical,  either.  there's  an  awkward,  oddly  nervous  smile  tugging  at  her  lips  -  hands  a  little  clammy,  too,  rose  begins  to  fiddle  with  the  zipper  of  her  worn-out  track  jacket.  (  it  seems  SILLY  to  be  wearing  it  now,  for  whatever  reason  )  they've  gone  past  the  initial  shock  stage.  something  tells  her  the  person  opposite  poses  no  threat,  either,  and  distress  makes  way  for  curiosity.   "  so  ...  "  is  what  she  manages  once  she's  shaken  off  her  momentary  stupor.  staring  at  HERSELF,  or  a  version  of  herself,  rose  finds  herself  unsure,  almost  self-concious.  (  pun  not  intended  )  what  comes  out  next  is  precisely  a  manifestation  of  nineteen-year-old-self-conciousness  "  ...  this  is  what  my  hair  looks  like  from  the  back,  huh  ?"

NEITHER  !  apparently,  this  time  around  he'd  the  kind  of  guy  who  simply  stays  put  behind  his  corner,  trying  to  catch  his  breath  as  he  tries  not  to  think  about  the  gargantuan  paradox  that's  afoot  (  if  he  hasn't  simply  HALLUCINATED  a  face  from  ...  well,  thirteen  faces  ago  ).  silently  hoping,  praying  that  she  hasn't  seen  him. - '  NOT  THAT  SHE  WOULD  RECOGNISE  YOU  ' now,  that's  what  stings  even   m  o  r  e  .  because  it's  true  -  and  if  that's  the  case  ....  well,  then  he  can  just  get  himself  together,  turn  the  corner,  get  back  to  the  tardis  and  RUN.  sounds  like  a  plan  -  when  in  doubt,  escape  !  (  so  flight  it's  gonna  be  -  on  your  marks,  get  set,  GO  !  )
