Wrapping up Mental Health Awareness Month I’m extremely humbled and proud to start this project. Working with partners from all over the country we’re looking to create a Mental Health Initiative. Starting small by incorporating Suicide Prevention into our Staff and Volunteer on boarding process just as we would do with CPR and First aid courses. Big picture, develop, staff, and implement a Mental Health program in our community out reach departments to work with schools, colleges, hospitals, and churches to offer counseling services, classes, programs, and various other programs all volunteer led in order to minimize as many of these tragedies as we can. Posting this for two reasons: 1. To raise awareness that we see, acknowledge, and plan to rectify the epidemic facing our communities And 2. Hold myself accountable: by putting this out there it’s not just a thought or goal on a whiteboard. It’s out there and time to turn conversations behind closed doors into conversations in public and more so; conversations into actions. Thank you to my #principlesandpractices family for working together to share this story and this idea. I recognize it won’t happen over night but hopefully a year from now we will start to see a difference. #becausey #forabetterus #mentalhealthawareness (at Charlotte, North Carolina) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3Dw5u_gXxL/?igshid=oe77sghe16jr
