The less I was understood, the more I overthought. The less I was appreciated, the more I overextended myself. The less I stood on the truth of who I was and the power of my authenticity, the more I fell for life's distractions and lowered my emotional standards. As easy as it would be to point the finger at everyone I viewed as unappreciative or unable to reciprocate, I would have four fingers pointing back at me acknowledging that I did not have control over their actions, but I had control over my efforts and an unwillingness to remove myself from what was not aligned with my life. It was no one else's fault that I wanted to be accepted in spaces where I was not aligned. It was no one else's fault that I could not validate myself, so I searched for the validation of my family and friends. It was no one else's fault that my inability to place boundaries and clearly articulate my emotions and experiences led to a suppressed and diluted version of myself. If I want to break free from limiting thoughts, spiritual strongholds, and an unhealthy amount of insecurity then I must fully acknowledge the part I played in every single one of my life lessons.
