What I don't get is how you switch out the mesh in the clone of the template. It doesn't appear to be just a matter of extracting the original mesh and replacing the template clone's mesh with the original mesh because when I do that, I lose all the groups in the cloned template because the original mesh only has a single group while the template clone has, like, 6, two of which are for the day and night windows, which is obviously what gets fiddled with. So the object doesn't work. At least I assume that's why it doesn't work. I just end up with an invisible object, which is what's happened whenever I've tried to switch out meshes in object clones.

So...I don't get it. Is it NOT just a matter of extracting the mesh from the original object (by right-clicking on the GMDC and choosing “Extract”) and then replacing the mesh in the clone (By right-clicking and choosing “Replace”)? Do you have to export the mesh and then screw with it in a 3D editor first to add groups or something? (Because if that's the case, I'm out. I don't even have one installed on this machine, and I don't want to put effort into relearning how to do stuff in one right now.) If it IS just a matter of extracting/replacing and I'm just doing it all wrong or maybe there’s additional steps that I don’t know about...Can someone write me up or point me at some kind of step-by-step instructions written in Captain Dummy language, assuming that I know nothing (because when it comes to anything associated with meshes I do know nothing) for just this part of the process. The rest of it I get. I just truly don't understand anything having to do with meshes or how this importing/exporting business works.
