maia: I would like to complain about our lack of interactions since arriving in Berlin

He doesn’t know how he got in this bathtub at a random house party with Beau fucking Marin of all people, absolutely wasted and nursing a bottle of vodka. He brings the bottle up to his lips and tips it back, the alcohol still burning his throat despite the fact that he’s drank more enough for it not to affect him anymore. “What the fuck,” Sihyun says quietly. “How did I even get here?” He tips the bottle back again. “And with you of all people?” All Sihyun remembers is entering this house party, a line of shots, more shots, and really loud music. He would get up from the tub and leave but he’s very comfortable and as long as Beau doesn’t speak, he can almost pretend the other isn’t there.

Sihyun is manning the bar, wearing the uniform of a black v-neck and black jeans and he feels entirely out of his element. Not with drinks, just with the outfit. But his bartender had an emergency and he’d stepped in because he’s comfortable enough behind the bar until the next shift change. He’s flying around, serving and mixing drinks left and right, keeping up conversations and flirting with the pretty men and women who flirt with him just for the entertainment. He turns to a new customer, ready to take their order before he looks at who it is. He expects to find a lot of people in his club but not Beau. Maybe it’s because he thinks the other hates him, and he probably does and Sihyun’s sure he did something to warrant that hate but he is surprised to see him here. “Beau," he says, letting that surprise color his tone. “I see you’ve decided to grace my club with your presence.” He pauses at the bar leaning an elbow on it to look at Beau. “Can I get you something to drink? First one’s on the house for you.” 

In hindsight, Sihyun shouldn’t have been texting with one hand and holding both his dogs’ leashes with the other. But he’d been distracted by the incoming notification and had pulled out his phone to reply quickly. But in those five seconds it takes Sihyun to answer the text, Pria finds an opening and pulls him forward, almost knocking him off balance as he runs toward somebody excitedly.  “Pria, stop,” he almost yells only to find Pria right next to him, walking at the same speed. Weird, Sihyun thinks. He’s never seen Maron this excited. 

Finally, Maron stops in front of someone and Sihyun leans down, grabbing at his collar to look him in the eyes. “Don’t do that again. You can’t just run up to people like that, you’ll scare them,” he tells Maron before he gives him a few scratches behind the ear. And then he turns his attention to the person, fully ready to apologize before he sees who it is. “On second thought, feel free to trample this one, Maron.” 

“Did they? Well, what I think obviously does not matter but I’ll just say that the only thing I think Beau would make a good couple with is a vibe check. Vera is too good for him. She’s too good for anyone.”
