There’s one building, slightly taller than the others, and she stares at the white collars clocking in for work. All men, of course. They’d be easy deals to sign, and she believes some of them would deserve it, but she can never bring herself to spend enough time with them for it. To get close, fake smiles, throw her hair back, toy the line between the virgin and the whore. Then she sees a group of women going up the stairs. Nice suits that Bela will discard: clothes isn’t what she looks for. She seeks light brown hair, leaning on blond, long thin legs, strong arms – someone who exercises, she needs the strength. She gets out of the car and walks to the side of the building, hiding in the small alley. She lets her current body fall against the concrete, and she moves inside, checks the women bathroom, and here she is – close enough, she believes. She has to be fast, she doesn’t have much time before her soul is pulled back down. Bela finishes washing the woman’s hands, and takes her bag for good measure. But she doesn’t take the stairs to the third floor, like the woman inside is thinking about: she goes back to her car, and she drives. She ignores the whispers-shouts from inside, adjusts to the low murmur of the inner voice to get a feel of what kind of person she’s stealing. Sometimes, she thinks she could offer them something in exchange. Instead of dropping their body back in an alley, she could suggest a deal. She never does. The more time she spends inside a vessel, the more her dislike grows. The more she starts to feel like they’re stealing something from her, by not being her own bones. She resents them, and the faces she sees in mirrors, and their shoe size and the shape of their nails and the length of their arms and the width of their neck. Everything feels wrong, and slowly the itch grows, of either scratching it all away or changing skin. In the end, it feels like the favor she’s making them is to not cut off their skin.

as every November I try to, if not to write a whole 50k novel, to give myself any kind of writing challenge

this year I wanted to get back in the habit of writing AND make progress on my fic first draft, so my goal was simple: write something every day and I DID!

I followed my challenge with trackbear which I'm now obsessed with.

what I liked the most with NaNo was the tracking system and the graph, and trackbear allows me to have that and more. I love the option to specify what type of writing is happening (drafting, editing, etc), and to either count in words or time spent

because to be honest, while I do consider my challenge COMPLETED 🥳🎉 there are two days I didn't write any word. that being said I did unlock some plot points in my head while going to work, so I counted that as 5min spent writing

from Nov 1st to Nov 30rd, I wrote 7 109 words (bringing my wip up to 10 417 words)

it gives roughly 237 words per day.

in the first days it was sometimes more 70 words here and there, but then I got quite steady near the end. I was taking 15-20min right as I was getting back from work to write.

I'm gonna try to keep that up in december :)

last time I successfully did such a challenge in November I was pulling more around 500-1k words, but:

it was years ago when i was a student

i was writing in my mothertongue

so I don't see it like a downgrade or anything
