“So,” said Cato, “considering the insanity around here the past few months, even I can manage to only be somewhat cynical about this whole thing. I think the ball is a waste of time and resources but I also think that now, more than ever, we need to send the message that our stupid traditions won’t be disrupted by senseless violence. I assure you, I am taking the security of this event extremely seriously. While I am on this campus there will be no repeat of the events weeks prior,” the headmaster said in an unusually serious tone into the intercom. 

He shuffled his papers, and sighed, “We’ll begin with the nominations for king which d not surprise me at all and are honestly a little boring. First up, we have Gaston Pelletier... again. It’s a total mind-fuck how popular he is considering how inappropriate he also is but hey, he seems to be turning over a new leaf. Here’s to hoping that if he wins his ego won’t inflate any further, it’s already big enough to have its own gravitational pull. Next we have the slightly unexpected but also totally predictable nomination of James Grillo. He’s a nice guy, he’s dependable, can’t really say much about him. Finally we have Kent Cogsworth who will despise this nomination, his ire will amuse me endlessly and I hope he scowls all night,” the headmaster cackled. 

He shifted in his seat and put his feet up onto the desk, “As always, the nominations for queen are far more interesting,” he said, “first we have the ever controversial Belle Desrosiers, something about her nomination feels thematically relevant but I can’t put my finger on exactly why that is...oh well. Next we have half of the duo that brought the traitor of Ilvermorny to justice, Cassandra Knight. She seems like out of the nominees she would be the most likely to show up drunk and honestly, same. Finally we have Mabel Pines who will be pleased as punch to hear this and likely use those exact words to describe her elation.”  

He stood up with a smirk, “I’m very interested in seeing how this all plays out…but this time, lets not wait until an hour into the dance to spike the punch bowl okay? Fantastic. Headmaster out.” With that he turned off the microphone.
