Breath of Life🐾 Riscal
Oliver had woken up and left the house, a sign that he was doing just a bit better than he had been doing the last few days. As much as Rita hadn’t wanted to let him out of her sight she knew that at some point things were going to have to get back to normal. She couldn’t lord over him and Roscoe for the rest of their lives. But she could ask for texts every once in a while to make sure DeSoto hadn’t found one of them again.
She’d received the text from Ollie, giving her his whereabouts and an ‘I love you’, and that had eased her enough for her to start on her own path of normalcy. The painting that Roscoe had bought from Pascal hung lovely in their den, lighting the room up and making it feel cozier all at once. She’d told Roscoe she wanted to get more and after a quick text she was on her own way.
Leaving the house was only slightly worrying for her. At first it had been because she didn’t have the energy or the will to do much but wander from room to room in the house before eventually curling up on the couch until someone came home. Then everything with DeSoto happened and she was fearful that going out would give him the chance to hurt them.
But walking down Main Street, her gaze never staying in one place too long, she felt.... better. Like all she had needed was some fresh air. It caused a small smile to form on her lips as she walked up to Sunburst and through the door that was slightly ajar. “Pascal? It’s Rita Sykes? Roscoe’s wife. He bought some paintings from you earlier this week.”
