As someone who has had him rattling around in their brain for several years now, I know the feeling.

Except not dirty because duh of course he wouldnt just be a filthy animal. His hair is messy though because it's a strange texture and he's got that beard I keep forgetting to mention. 😅 Also if you haven't noticed, and I don't blame you if you haven't bc I only bring it up every other paragraph or so, he's Very Tall, which doesn't come across in that gif where he's surrounded by a gaggle of enormous mountain men.

So that is the face Barbara is falling in love with 🥰 and even though no one has asked I'm putting it out there that Barbara actually DOES have a claim and that is Amber Rose Revah

I was so distracted watching Punisher Season 1 bc every time she was on screen I had to clean up a puddle of drool. One of the most beautiful women that has ever existed for real. No wonder our growing boy fell in infatuation love with her at first sight.

8 - what are his hands like?

Rough and calloused from overuse. Dry and cracking from repeated hand washing. Nails are groomed. Yes with his teeth, because that's practical, but no not because he's anxious.

9 - Hygeine and personal smell

He is absolutely meticulous about hygiene. When things are real bad up there he will sometimes use straight Abraxo on his skin. This doesn't mean that he is not ever sweaty and smelly, it does happen at times, but the day does not end for him until he has removed all the scuzz and unwanted hair and put on fresh clothes. Because of this, he mostly smells very Abraxo-y.

13 - What made him choose Deacon as a codename?

He did not choose it for himself. He got stuck with it. 🙂

18 - Where is the furthest from the Commonwealth he's been and why did he go there?

Capital Wasteland setting up a safe pipeline to send rescued synths through. He's traveled in many directions for this, including Quebec and Maine.

1 - He was born Dec 14 2244, meaning that he is 42 going on 43 when Whisper wakes up.

4 - He would have a full head of hair if he didn't shave it. He is meticulous about keeping it shaved because it IS red and bc red sticks out like a sore thumb and is WAY too memorable. Also another more spoilery reason. :)

As far as body hair goes, his is mostly fair and fine and not really all that noticeable in the places where he has it. I prefer not to think about pubic hair too much so y'all can think of his situation down there as like schrodingers pubes. It exists and it doesn't. I have not mentioned it (I dont think??) And dont intend to 😆

1) Exudes ambivalence at face value, but at his core is extremely posessive of sosu and jealous of anyone that comes near them. One way that he deals with this is by finding ways to make sosu wear his clothes, specifically his shirt, bonus points if he takes it straight off his body and gives it to them. Something about his scent signaling to others that sosu is claimed.

So as I was deciding what movies he and Josie were going to watch in the first part of the story I watched a whole bunch of clips from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Ultimately decided against bringing it into the story but the next chapter after the one with Ghost starts with him coming into a secluded town with the persona of a lone woodsman and he goes to the local bar and he has a BEARD and as I was writing it I suddenly realized

So that silly idea has been hanging out in my brain for the whole rest of the writing process. Is this what he looks like? Not really. They really do this guy up to look huge and imposing and while this Deacon is certainly tall he's really not all that buff. I think of him having a slim frame even as a youngin, so Adam Pontipee really ain't it. One of his brothers though??

I've talked about this before but I dont really see faces for my characters so it's hard to pick face claims, but this is a pretty good fit. I mostly see the height and the hair and the weird, brimming with barely contained violence vibe when I think of young bd Deacon, and this guy mostly checks those boxes. However while young Deacon is CLEAN his hair is also a weird texture and unmanageable, so it's gonna be more like when the boys are all dirty
