something something the gold as noxus, the true source of her love and loss and what's causing them and why they'll never flow.

something something mel was shaped by noxus and she carries it on her skin like armor, like a brand.

something something having her sorrow front and center, outright glowing (especially when they put her in the shadows, as they liked to do) yet never allowing anyone to see it for what it is.

something something mel knowing where she's from and what made her into what she is, yet deciding to forge her own path.

until she can't anymore.

i know that i’ve been here talking about why nora leaving the show seemed unfair to her specifically but i’m actually really tired of talking about brandon and courtney leaving in general. i reached a point of not caring about the actors specifically leaving about... a month after it happened because i couldn’t read a single article about legends that didn’t mention them leaving where i felt like zari and charlie’s storylines were getting their due.

and tbh, i think the most recent episode of legends in review kinda summarizes my general annoyance with the issue better than i could. i don’t... really care about why they had brandon leave. it’s not something that interests me. i’m still tired of talking about ray and nora’s exit (unless i’m saying ‘fuck you’ to phil klemmer abt her not getting to give any proper goodbyes to, well, anyone especially compared to his send off that episode).

once again, that LiR episode talks about the imbalance of ray’s big huge dramatic exit vs. how this show treats characters of color when they leave. which does also tie in to a bit of my anger, especially in that other overshadowing of their exit over the plots of zari, charlie, and astra this season when it came to reporting pre-s5 which are all. way more important to me. i’m not here for the white men. i’m barely here for most of the white people.

and even then they haven’t focused on behrad and astra’s plots that much in the season so far. we’ve gotten what, one episode where behrad was a major player in the main plot. we still don’t know much about astra. this show has a lot of flaws that i know plenty about and this season has made them abundantly clear.
