He can’t see Kibum with the darkness of the room around them contrasting the bright light of his phone screen, but from the rustling and flopping that can be heard, he’s sure the elder is moving his arms frantically to fend off insects or ghosts whilst still wearing his tiger-striped eye mask. “Kibum,” Taemin sends back. “Kibum, oh my god, look. Check your phone.”

“Oh my god,” He groans. The mask is wadded up and hits Taemin’s face dead on. “You shit. This better be fucking important.”

“It is.”

In the fifteen seconds that he has while Kibum huffs and grumbles, pulls himself together, and grabs his phone, Taemin sends a quick screenshot of his discovery to his roommate.

Kibum gasps. Very audibly, very dramatically.

“Kim Jonghyun… no way.”

“Yes way.”

Taemin turns his face back to his own screen, down to the app he only ever gets on when he’s bored, drunk, or on the rare occasion, desperately horny. “What’s this asshole doing within Tinder range? I thought he went to like, Japan, or something?”

The younger shrugs, but as he looks down at the minimalist bio (“jamong, 173 cm, he/him/his, liberal, aspiring musician and lyricist. dogs are more important to me than most humans. <3”), he feels a very familiar feeling pulling at the organ in his ribcage he’s tried very hard to ignore since this very human transferred out of their school two years ago. “He’s still using that ridiculous nickname. And I swear to god he’s shorter than that,” Taemin says, a smile now very deeply carved into his lips, though he’s trying to fight it.

“You would know,” Kibum chortles. Which, in all honesty, is true; Taemin used to have every small feature on the elder memorized, from his weird hobbit feet to that cute chest mole, his tanned skin, previously warm chestnut hair. According to his three cutely taken selfies, he’s now a silver-platinum blond. “You swiped right, yeah?”

He’s still as handsome as ever. Still as cute, still as fucking irresistible.

“I haven’t done anything yet,” Taemin tells him. “Still suffering through my resurfacing self-loathing.”

“Do it,” he hisses. “What’s the worst thing that could happen? Not like you’ve talked to him in all this time, not like there’s anything to ruin. Besides, if he doesn’t swipe for you, he’ll never know you did. And if he does, what can he say about it?”

He’s technically right.

Technically. “Oh my god, Kibum.”

The elder turns on his phone’s flashlight, shining Taemin snappily in the face to let him know that he’s had enough. “Yes, I get it, I know, I was here through all your feelings. I can’t believe you’re still this fucked for him, though, wow.” Silence. The flashlight is still glaring at him. “Okay, yeah,” it’s off. “Swipe left, scream if it’s a match, and if it isn’t, go to bed and wait to shit your pants in the morning.”
