Baby Birds Don’t Drink Milk - Think Tone
With their lo-fi textures and organic song arrangements, Baby Birds Don’t Drink Milk set out to create a unique blend of alternative rock, inspired by shoegaze and no-wave.
The band’s 2013 studio effort, “Think Tone”, offers angular guitar melodies drowning in a sea of modulated reverb tones, (mostly) unintelligible lyrics, and ghost-like ambiance.
The six tracks featured within the release are often relatively long compositions: there is no track under 4 minutes, and the longest tune, aptly titled “I’ve Been Thinking a Lot about the Universe” is over ten minutes in length.
This track is also one of the most interesting moments on this record, with lush drones moving like waves crashing on the tides in the middle of the night. Acoustic instruments alternate to dense and brooding sonic landscapes, adding a nice organic twist to the mix.
