At this point I've fully committed to ignoring canon informations, we're in full swing.

He has dogs. Big dogs. I cannot explain why, but he gives that vibe. He has at least 3 huge herding dogs, and his grandkids used to be terrified of them. They're probably direbeasts, because I don't want him to be sad from his dogs dying within a decade. Mama Zigvolt also loves dogs, and the only reason she doesn't have some of her own is her husband, aka the dentist human, who's terrified of dogs. Another reason to dislike the human, in Baul's very humble opinion. Who could in their sane mind dislike dogs ? They're loyal and fluffy. And if his dogs accidentally get unleashed near him ? His mistake, he truly didn't mean to... Or did he. Cry little human boy, cry. He absolutely didn't train them to target this man specifically, of course not. Go and steal his slipper doggo you'll get a treat.

Baul is petty, but in a very quiet way. But he's very, very petty.

His house is similar to Lilia's, separated from the rest of the main city. Although it's not as far, only a twenty minutes walk from the nearest settlement. He has a garden where he grows his own crops. Add a few chicken for the fun of it.

Baul is a surprisingly good cook. Someone has to make up for Lilia's food. More often than not, in their military days, he took over Lilia's cooking shift on his own. Other soldiers also used to trade chores with him just so he'd have more cooking shifts. Baul didn't mind. He actually quite likes cooking. And if he can avoid laundry duty for a few dozen stinky soldiers, he'll do it.

He's hard of hearing. Despite that, he dislikes city noise. He finds it way too loud. It gives him headaches.

Talking about headaches, he gets migraines. It's probably a tension problem, but he never got it checked out. He never gets anything checked out until his daughter or grandchildren guilt-trip him into it, really. He's always been able to brush off just about every injury, he's not about to stop now.

He listens to jazz. I don't make the rules. Electro swing, all of it.

He has an accent. Absolutely. And I will not budge on that. He'd get along great with Epel from bonding over city poshs complaining about countryside accents. It did fade over the time he spent in the capital, but get him worked up or excited about something and it's back in full swing.

He moved from Sunset Savana to Briar Valley during his teenage years. He was raised on a farm, so he knows how to handle farm animals/direbeasts and how to care for plants. He kind of miss that life sometimes. Contrary to popular belief, that's actually where he got his muscle mass, and not from the military. It gave him a great advantage when he first enrolled.

He did his military service for an easier green card. Only after did he realise he liked it, and stayed in the military.

Whereas he feels a sense of peace in farm life, he feels a sense of belonging in military life. He's always been conflicted on which one to pick.

Baul always thought the story of the elephant getting scared of the mouse was extremely stupid, until he met Lilia. To this day he refuses to admit he was sweating bullets when Lilia checked out the new rookies. The teasing from said General has been relentless on the topic. Lilia has yet to tell him he was just checking out his scales, because shiny.

His scales get itchy, and he absolutely hates that feeling. Back when they were soldiers, Lilia used to scratch them for him when they were alone around campfires. He still won't admit he fell asleep thanks to that one too many times.

Nowadays, the sound of clashing swords is the same for him as a fork against a plate. You know the sound. It irks him to no end.

He very easily loses track of time. He has his routines, and that's somewhat his only landmarks. I dare you to try to disturb his routines. You'll get a very, very grumpy croc.

Baul isn't a morning person at all. If he could, he'd only be awake from noon to the ungodly hours of the morning. To his grief, he has morning shifts.

His mood swings with the sun. If it's sunny, he's noticeably happier and more willing to be outside. Lizard.

Adding this now from the comments, he also goes through brumation in the winter ! Drownsy cuddly crocodile. Honestly it's always been in my mind to the point I forgot it wasn't canon, and therefore forgot to write it here, lol.

Baul's hobbies include fishing, reading, plant tending, animal care, cooking, and just about anything a house husband does. You didn't hear that from me.

He might've kissed Lilia once or twice. To try it out. You can never be too sure ! And the fact Lilia opposed his wedding has nothing to do with it, or so he tells himself.

His wedding was arranged by their families. While Baul did want children, family man™, he wasn't too convinced about having one with his fiance.

Family is very important to Baul. Maybe more than anything he swore loyalty to. He'll never say it out loud, but he doesn't need to. His kids and grandchildren come first, no matter what.

As I've said before in previous posts, I believe fae illnesses are quite different from human ones. They're rarer, but more aggressive.

Lilia absolutely milks it everytime he's sick. He's absolutely insufferable. He'll pretend to be on his death bed everytime, asking for paper and pen to update his will to whoever is tending to him. If he's not coddled and pampered, everyone will hear about it for weeks once he's better, complaining that nobody loves an old man like him anymore.

Silver often stays by his bedside—he knows it's just his father's antics, but he can't help but be a little worried everytime still. Lilia finds it adorable, and does tend to lessen his theatrics when Silver is around. He wouldn't want to worry his boy over a mild fever, he isn't that cruel.

It's also one of the rare times where Lilia allows himself to catch a break. During his military days, it came to the point he was wishing to get sick to get a break, making him get a little reckless on hygiene.

If his illness makes him unable to get a proper night's worth of rest, that's when he gets grumpy.

Lilia despises throwing up. He finds it absolutely disgusting, and it grosses him out bad. Thankfully for him, he has a strong stomach, which makes it a rare event. When other people throw up, tho, he lets the others handle it. It's one of the rare things he seriously dislikes.

Lilia often goes to Baul's house when he gets sick, because he knows his old comrade would never turn him away in that state. Again, he milks the attention he can get, and if he can also get some of Baul's cooking on the way, he won't complain. And cuddles.

He gets clingy when he has a fever. I don't make the rules.

Baul is quiet when he's sick. To the point where people get concerned he's seriously ill or dying, because it's just that unusual for a Zigvolt to be silent.

He tends to isolate himself, grumbling about wanting to be alone and being able to take care of it himself. Self sacrificial male syndrome, or whatever. Stupid guy.

Not that he refuses if anyone tries pampering or coddling him. He melts a lot easier than it seems, and Lilia takes advantage of it everytime.

When Baul gets sick, he'll disappear under an obscene amount of blankets. It's the comfiest spot for him, and he wouldn't trade it for anything. This goes for anyone in the Zigvolt family. They also sunbathe if the weather allows, as well as go swimming in warm waters. More like floating around, but you get the drift. Warm water. Reptiles. Comfortable.

The illnesses he dislikes the most are the ones where he can't stomach food. He gets so unbelievably hungry, becoming one of the rare times you'll see him get pouty or whiny. He wants food, feed the poor man. If Lilia suggets cooking, however, he'll suddenly be feeling a lot better.

Baul gets drownsy when he has a fever. The higher the fever, the more sleep he'll get. It gets to concerning amounts, where he'll be sleeping for one or two dozen hours straight.
