Thinking about DP x DC x DMO crossover again.
Who out of the batfam (or DC in general but I'm thinking it should be batfam because of reasons that I'll go into later) do you think would be the most logical choice to interact with DMO characters? I'm thinking Jason, bc he and Roy went on a mission in Moscow that one time in RHATO I think (which I know nothing about bc I don't want to read RHATO) and I know Jason canonically knows Russian. ALSO if we're going for DP x DC x DMO and not just DC x DMO and making Jason a halfa, that makes him connected to both superhero AND ghost bullshit. Which connects everything nicely.
But also. We have a Careless Rich Guy Who Is Secretly A Superhero. What if we make Anton's mom some sort of aristocrat in France (which like… she could be for all we know) and send fucking Brucie Wayne in there for business reason or some bullshit. Or I guess Oliver Queen could work too, but I don't care or know anything about him. So fuckass Brucie and little Anton meet there. Because I think it would be funny. We could even make teenage Dick or Jason or even fucking Tim depending on the timeline be there as Bruce's son/ward and hang out with kid or I guess teen Anton who was brought here against his own will. And then almost ten years later they meet each other in their superhero identities.
Danny and the gang are obviously investigating ghost bullshit all over the world. Because of course. And maybe Olezha as that fucked up poltergeist thing from Sleepless Paralysis is making so much trouble it catches their attention. OR. We make Dima a halfa too. Don't know how. Undetermined resurrection via ghost shenanigans bullshit. And they meet through that. And they came to the idea that the only thing that will calm Olezha down and help him to be reincarnated is to find out who killed him. And the gang will be like: oh, we know exactly the guy who can help with that. And call the bat of their choice.
Or maybe. Bats are investigating some crime thing connected to the government corruption or something that is connected to their case somehow or something and go to Moscow for reasons. And bump into Diplomator there. Who is investigating that same thing. Probably pre-Olezha's death. They bicker and tell each other to not get in each other's way, but ultimately have to work together, bc their cases are connected or smth. And then they part ways on a good note. And when Olezha dies the logical thing for Diplomator to do would be calling their old acquaintances. Or MAYBE. Fucking Bruce as Batman probably is tailing Diplomator to know what the fuck is his deal, and meets a Blue Eyed Black Haired Young Man™ in some alleyway or something and connects the dots. But unfortunately this Blue Eyed Black Haired Young Man Who's Into Superheroics™ is both an adult and has alive parents (I mean the latter didn't stop him with Tim but anyway) so he leaves him alone. And then some time later Bruce is watching the news, sees something about Olezha's death somehow and is like "Alfred! That's the guy I met two years ago for two seconds!" and has a breakdown about how he could've prevented this somehow (it's Bruce c'mon) and flies to Moscow as Batman to investigate Olezha's murder.
OR. Anton Zvezdochkin on that fuckass rich people gala in France that totally actually exists now meets a Blue Eyed Black Haired Guy™ and his gay ass is immediately enamored. Could be anyone depending on where in the batfam timeline we throw them, but considering his taste in men I'm thinking Tim or Jason make the most sense.
OR. We make Mikhail's business company way more successful than it is in canon and Olezha is on some bullshit rich business men event somewhere in the world against his will. He is here as Mikhail's heir, the one who will take over the company eventually, but he's not happy about it at all. And another guy who doesn't really wanna take over the company business sees how he's uncomfortable here and they have a heart to heart about it on a balcony. (Tim Drake. This is Tim Drake before the Drakes' death). And then Tim will have the "Alfred! That's the guy I met two years ago for two seconds!" freakout, will pull his hair out about how this is somehow his fault and fly his ass over to Moscow to investigate the murder. Because he'd clock that it's murder from some obscure ass detail or something c'mon it's Tim. And here he can meet Anton Zvezdochkin as Tim Drake to sus him out and decide if he's the suspect or possible witness. Bc Tim would crack the Diplomator bullshit somehow even before this whole story. And then they work together somehow.
Or maybe he won't investigate him as Tim Drake and will instead create himself a new cover identity. And, following in the steps of our DC crossover roots, his cover identity would be Zhenya. A Blue Eyed Black Haired Guy™, who infiltrates the police station that was handling both the Diplomator case and Olegsey's death case. Which is not suspicious at all. (And also there could be some timanton bullshit there, who's target audience is one person and it's me. But that's unrelated and optional). AND OH MY GOD I JUST REALIZED THIS. Zhenya is literally Seleznyov. Which comes from the Russian "селезень" which LITERALLY MEANS MALE DUCK. LIKE DRAKE DOES. It's all coming together. It's such a Tim move to pick the most fuckass name imaginable.
OR. And hear me out on this one. The reason I think the bats should be the ones to crossover with dmo is because when in second season Anton just randomly broke into Dima's room while he was sleeping and just sat there rewatching his boyfriend's death for the billionth time my FIRST thought was "the fuck kinda batfam fanfic bullshit is that?!" Like. He would fit right in. With his aversion to violence, fucked up understanding of boundaries, fake stupid rich asshole persona and incredibly unhealthy relationship with grief, he's practically cut out to be in the batfam. He even got the red mask (drawn with lipstick but still) and something cape-like. With colorful lining. Y'know. Like Robin's cape. Makes you think about it. Also wouldn't it be like the funniest shit ever. Just imagine it. This is the kind of crack we need in our lives. Anton Wayne for the win, Eduard can die in a car crash or something for the plot, nobody will miss him. (Marie will unfortunately have to be fridged probably, but I'm sure we can make it work).
And like… there's a reason why Anton and Tim are my main and biggest blorbos and the characters in life. We should explore that. How they both can't let their Blue Eyed Black Haired Guy Who They Do Superhero Bullshit Together And Also Have Some Weird Fucked Up Homoerotic Relationship With™ go and rest in the afterlife. How they would both do something their friend would never approve of to bring them back. Even if not fully. But it would be something. I just think I'm onto something here and no, I don't have any psychological problems that are showing through my taste in ships whatsoever.
Or. If we're going with Anton Wayne or something of the like, we can have this marvelous thing. You've probably already guessed it with all this grief talking.
Anton and The Lazarus Pit.
The image in my head is so painfully clear and vivid and just feels right. Anton in his fuckass Diplomator outfit, holding the vial of green glowing water that one Tim panel style, consumed by grief. And Dima trying to talk him out of it. "I miss him too, but you know this isn't the way. I know you can make the right decision". And then Anton doesn't, because he's selfish and fucking stupid, and we have Olezha angst with body horror extreme emotional breakdown and lots of shouting and throwing hands. And Anton will just smile Erik in DOFP style when Olezha beats him up, because he's touching him. And in order to do that he'd have to be alive. Do you see the vision? DO YOU SEE THE FUCKING VISION?!! I also just think Olezha should get to beat him up but that's unrelated.
I don't feel confident in my DP knowledge at all bc my DP knowledge is basically nonexistent (that's why I'm hesitant to write this au myself) but Sam and Olya are tumblr mutuals. They met on alt tumblr or smth. That's it for the DP part.
Although… I guess we could have something like The Gentleman (Olezha possessing Dima and doing superhero bullshit or helping other ghosts to reincarnate I don't remember) or that one idea of Olezha possessing Diplomator so they can investigate his murder together, and that would somehow tie in into DP stuff. I think. Like. Maybe Danny sees them and is like "omg are you a halfa too?!" and Diplolezha/Gentleman is like "what the fuck are you even talking about". And that'll lead to something I guess.
Or. Consider. Jason dies in Ethiopia and is now a ghost DMO lore style, basically chained to the item that represents him: his Robin costume. The one that Bruce put in a glass case in the Cave. Jason can't leave, can't interact with anyone, only move some things a little, break glass with the force of his screaming one time and haunt people's dreams. Maybe he even goes full poltergeist Sleepless Paralysis style and haunts the shit out of the manor until he makes it painfully clear that the only thing that could make it all stop and let him rest is his murderer getting a proper punishment. And here we enter Danny and DP bullshit. OR. Jason doesn't go apeshit, but is stuck connected to the Robin suit. And then. Tim enters the picture. And then promptly almost DIES, and Jason somehow saves him, and now Tim can see him. Everyone of course thinks Tim is insane (because they always do for some reason, even if he has proof), so now it's up to Tim to help Jason find peace in the afterlife and reincarnate. Could be wholesome au where Jason bonds with Tim eventually and gives him his blessing to be Robin, could be angst with hopelessness and two ghosts connected to two Robin suits, could be fucked up shit where hypercompetent thirteen year old Tim kills the Joker and is found burying the previous Robin's costume in the middle or the night at the cemetery "to let him rest". Could even mirror Dima's arc in DMO, where Jason's ghost would be no longer there, but Tim would miss him tremendously (bc we all know how healthy and normal Tim is about grief). And then DMO spoilers, if you know you know.
We could even leave Superboy Prime punching the multiverse resurrecting Jason. And explore how he would feel about his death and Joker and Bruce and new Robin after getting vague memories of hanging out with the kid in the Cave for some unexplainable to him reason. And Tim is hesitant to tell him that yes, the ghost bullshit did infact happen, because he's scared he won't be believed again. Just imagine this au's Titans Tower attack. So tasty.
Also, on the topic of Superboy Prime punching the multiverse. That's probably the easiest excuse to bring DMO (and DP) characters into DC universe. We don't even have to do anything. Superboy Prime punched the fucking multiverse so some people or even whole parts of other universes fell through the cracks. It's such a universal (pun intended) bullshit explanation that would fit anything. Anything can be explained with some fuckass guy punching the multiverse. DC editorial was so real for that. I think we should use it more to make stuff happen in fics, like "they were fighting a random magician" or "they were blasted by an unknown science doohickey while fighting some goon".
