Such a fun issue, sets up the following arc as well. You can’t call yourself a real fan of Cass if you haven’t read her batman run, same with Tim as robin—such an iconic period for batman tbh. They’re the best canon batman and robin pair outside of Bruce and Tim, bar none

One of my favorite parts about Tim Drake is how knocked around and pushed about he gets, that Tim had to work and work at being a crime fighter, of being worthy of the legacy title before him. It’s compelling I think, that Tim’s solo(s) paint him as constantly on the back foot, that Tim is a normal kid trying his best, I adore that underdog aspect.
And of course Tim is a talented detective in his own right, and a bright kid, but seeing him struggle whether it be training with shiva or bruce or clyde. I like that, I think Tim is great when you see the flaws that make him brush up naively or out-of-his-depth, to an extent. The mini series were good at showing this, warts and dixon-isms aside, I immensely enjoy the story they tell

had war games not happened, the steph bruce situation would be more then salvageable. it is the biggest miss of the pre N52 era on what they did to steph, however, I’ll give pre war-games writers the benefit of the doubt on occasion. I think it’s perfectly within bruce’s character to resist anyone joining the family post jason.

This doesn’t make up for all the bullshit, and Bruce isn’t doing well on revealing tim’s identity without his consent nor not letting Steph know his . I do find this a fascinating window into a timeline where Steph was not given the fate she was
I also find it fascinating how bruce’s relationship with his protégés was framed as mentor-student first; as tim and steph both had families and living parents, in the context of him looking after them in these contexts
gonna be so real world’s greatest detective is such a cool title, i don’t care i’m batman glazing today sometimes it’s okay to agree with the popular opinion in society
world’s greatest detective legit perks my ears up like a rabbit when i hear that in batman media, maybe it’s because I love batman stories where the mystery solving analytic side of bruce is put to focus, like denny o neil’s 70s work or dini’s tec run to name specific specific stuff among the literal thousands of issues.
I don’t know, “World’s Greatest Detective,” it sounds right to me, sounds like Bruce’s most interesting skills being highlighted. It’s understanding people, it’s finding motives and clues, going down long trails with potentially nothing to show and everything to gain, Bruce being a detective is a part of his character i eat up like candy every time it’s written well. I think this is why I still adore the long halloween despite it’s confusing at times plot, which is another it’s okay to agree with popular opinion point.
I think in terms of the other descriptors, like caped crusader and dark knight, they don’t have the same ring of interest, it’s the most pointless nerd of nerd pedantic shit i know but also you’re still reading and this is comic tumblr so bite me and also Batman is cool.
Moral of the story is that there are many fun batman detective stories and they deserve to be read, and that bruce wayne is such a super super fun character as the protagonist of said stories. life sucks but reading comics online at night with the soft glow of your browser illuminating the blanket on you and drink in your hand is free
aromantic cassandra cain posting yet again, my goat batgirl 2000 run gives me accurate visions of the future. future being that she’s committed to the grindset, why do you need romance when you can be batman? i’ve always liked that cass is hyper aware of the life she wants, her own self chosen destiny before her, she doesn’t share the same doubts with the vigilante life.
