I know i’ve only written one chapter with Ford and Harley Q.uinn, and it was them meeting each other but also

lemme tell you one of the reasons why i love their friendship

Harley’s friendship... is like what Bill had with Ford, but actually genuine and healthy 

hear me out

all the stuff that Ford liked in his friendship with Bill - his nonconforming weirdness, the unique silliness, the intelligent conversations - it’s all stuff that pops up with Harley too.

the key difference between Harley and Bill though - is that Harley cares, she’s empathetic where Bill takes amusement from people being hurt/scared

Like Ford going from a ‘friendship’ with a fellow weirdo that was actually full of manipulation and underhanded jabs and all this stuff that just left him ultimately feeling bad - to getting to HAVE that sort of friendship and it be a good one and not one where he’s consistently getting hurt and brushing that off and taking it because it’s the only way he’s getting to have this kind of friendship

agh i’m not saying this well

it’s just- one of the reasons i love the ford and harley’s friendship is because it is coming off of the same kind of connections, and that makes for such a stark comparison against what he had with bill

the friendship with harley makes it stand out just how subtly (and non subtly) bad ford’s friendship with bill had been and how all the aspects of it that he thought he couldn’t get without the bad... were actually possible this whole time

ford had just been so eager for a friendship with someone who was also visibly and overtly weird with that he didn’t believe he could have (or that it was even possible to have) that kind of friendship without everything that came with bill

Me, after watching all of scarecrow’s scenes throughout btas:

Now this is very basic and prone to error (since i literally only did a ctrl+f through the wiki) and subjectivity (i didn’t have penguin count for ‘The Trial’ due to lack of notable speaking lines) - However I’d like to go ahead and just post this because I was surprised at some of the results myself.
