Back to some basics - "SEAMS(stitches)" finishing of raw edges. French seam, binding, 4thread overlock, folded overlock wit and without crinkle effect, hand hemming. A garment lasts long when it's raw edges are cleanly finished they serve both aesthetic and functional property to a garment.
