“We deliver what you order no matter what happens.” We have been keeping this promise since 2017. An unfortunate accident happens since I prepare a package manually, the carrier person delivers it manually, and a customer receives it manually. It may take longer to complete the order when an accident happens, but you will get what you order from us. ☆ This Holiday was very stressful under Covid-19 & high numbers of packages for holidays. We have had many “missing” packages. As of now, as long as I acknowledge, all of the cases are solved. I sincerely appreciate the customers who understood the situation. ☆ There were so many “accidents” that I needed to reconsider “what if”. While reading several legal documents, I learned that it is a seller’s responsibility to complete the delivery even if the carrier causes the accident. The only case a seller isn’t responsible is when the tracking indicates the “package is delivered”. It can be delivered to the wrong address or stolen. Although I always had solved it regardless, I didn’t know this “common sense as a seller over the Internet.” So, I decided to add insurance to All of the Packages I make. I added a small amount of mark-up fee to cover.
☆ I make each package with care. This is something I do not want to outsource. Over the Internet, a process of making a package is the only time I can have to connect to a customer. It was such a delightful day yesterday with talking to many Sashiko stitchers over the Zoom, from the recent Online Sashiko Class participants to the old-friends who found me almost 3 years ago when I just started the Sashiko Workshop in NYC. ☆ Moving needle & making even stitches while enjoying the conversation. Once a person learns the Unshin & gets used to the rhythm, they don’t need to fully focus on the needle movement. They can listen to someone’s funny story, watch someone’s stitching while, and even talk to someone all “while they are stitching”. ☆ We are all different - different culture, value, perspective, philosophy, mindset - the difference makes us human and therefore diversity is so beautiful. However, in Sashiko that I pass down, regardless of all differences, we can all enjoy the same core of Sashiko - Unshin and rhythmical stitching in Sashiko. This gave me confidence to share more. Sashiko is fun, and it can be quite addictive. I will start sharing some of my friends Sashiko here and there. Sashiko was an ordinary practice of Japanese people who needed “stitching”. Therefore, “anyone” can enjoy the Sashiko. I teach Sashiko with sincere hope that the students will be “better” than me in terms of stitching itself. After 3 years of teaching, my hope is now becoming confidence. Once “Unshin” in Sashiko is natural, Sashiko becomes also very natural as a process, not only the result. ☆ I keep sharing the Sashiko from the friends who learned Sashiko from me. They are just stunning & very inspirational. ☆ - - - ☆ 日本各地に様々な刺し子が残っていて、それぞれに特徴があります。特徴とは、簡単に言ってしまえば「違い」なんですが、その違いを楽しむことで、今日まで様々な刺し子が残ってきたんだろうなと思うのです。お味噌汁の組み合わせ（具材、出汁、味噌）に正解がないように、刺し子にも正解はありません。どんな刺し子も正解です。 ☆ 違いがある中で、勿論共通点もあります。その一つが、「刺し子は日常の針仕事」だということです。特別な人だけが行う仕事でもなく、一生を捧げる弟子入りが必要なものでもなかったと思います。母から子へ、そのまた孫へ……そうやって日常の中で伝えられたものが刺し子かなと。 ☆ 僕が伝えたい刺し子とは、この「日常性」です。だから、マジで心から思っているのですが、「誰でもできるように」なります。少しだけ最初は苦しいかもしれませんが、それを乗り越えると、後は続けるだけ。ただ、この「続ける」というのが結構厄介で、結果ばかり追い求めてしまうと、なかなか続けられません。刺し子そのもの（ここでは運針）が楽しいと、何かの見返りがなくても、結果的に続けられます。「何が楽しいの？」と言われる中で、続けている人が多いのも、ここに理由があるかな……と。 ☆ そんな「運針」をお伝えする運針会というものを不定期で開催しています。「刺し子は特別なものじゃない」という僕の気持ちを代弁するかのごとく、沢山の方が、素敵な刺し子を続けて下さっています。そんな作品を少しずつ紹介しようと、#運針会友達 というタグを作りました。運針が刺し子の全てではありません。ただ、運針を通して刺し子を一層好きになって下さった人を世に紹介していければ良いなと思うのです。（@pikkoro810 さん、写真提供ありがとうございます。様々ある麻の葉の中で、僕の大好きな麻の葉刺し子です。） ☆ #Sashiko #JapaneseSashiko #RunningStitch #Handstitching #SashikoClass #MindfulStitching #SlowStitch #InvisibleMending #Ordinary #SashikoDenim #SashikoJeans #刺し子デニム #刺し子 #日本人の刺し子 #運針 #運針会 https://www.instagram.com/p/CDOiWiXp3UE/?igshid=1l5h0m92vsyng

I am aware that “Mending (visible and/or invisible)” is the topic that people are looking for through Sashiko. I had once offered the mending workshop. Although it was a great success, there is one issue - “I need a garment that needs mending - yet I do not want to damage the garment intentionally”. ☆ The principle of Sashiko is to make fabric stronger, to extend the life of garment. Therefore, patching a hole on the pants is the last step of the Sashiko mending, unless an accident happens. The accident happened unfortunately, and I need a pair of pants to be repaired soon… so a project is coming up. I hope I can make a video of the project.
